Myth 1
Hair oil reduces hairfall
✅Fact: Hair oil forms a coating on the hair strands and reduces dryness and frizziness. It may also help in reduced hair breakage of damaged hair.
If you have dandruff, you should avoid applying oil on your scalp.
👩⚕️Hair oil can be used 2 hours before wash. There is no benefit of leaving hair oil on overnight.
Myth 2
Shampoo improves hairfall
✅Fact : The main function of a shampoo is to clean the scalp. Shampoos have surfactants which dissolve the oil produced by the scalp for effective cleansing.
For dry hair, you can look for moisturising ingredients like avocado, coconut or argan oil.
👩⚕️For hair thinning, using caffeine shampoo may help
Myth 3
Biotin supplements control hairfall.
✅Fact: The most common deficiencies causing hairfall are iron deficiency, vitamin D, vitamin B, zinc, selenium etc. Supplementation of these micronutrients will be more helpful.
👩⚕️It is best to consult a dermatologist before taking supplements so you know what is required. Supplements have to be taken for atleast 3 months.
