My daughter uses Afrezza occasionally along with her pump and DIY Loop. It's like magic for stubborn highs! and in Loop it can be entered into the equation as "external insulin". Love it.

thank you for the information! They should make 1 unit cartridge besides what they already have, this way would be easier to combine the right amount of insulin needed.

I did a trial for this about 15 years ago. It worked very well.

I take it and love it. I can't stand needles so inhaled was what I wanted. I've had blood sugar crashes but due to not eating the dessert I had planned on. I take three 12 units at a time and it works for me where other meds didn't. I use it before eating and it works for me when snacking and then I adjust the dose by how much sugar or carbs I am eating. Also the little packages with the insulin holders need to be refrigerated for storage but can be left out for up to three days in below 75 F degree temps unopened. The biggest thing for me is I can go out with a package if I think I might snack or eat and if straight from the refrigerator, it will not go bad for a few hours in higher temps. I get it paid for through my insurance too, but I'm also on medicare and medicaid due to disabilities, so all my insulin and supplies are paid for.
If you try it, you might never go back as long as you remember to take it either before or right after you eat. Just don't take it if you are not either going to eat or have just eaten a few minutes ago. These are just my experiences though.

Wow, that's amazing. That could be life changing! I am currently on Fiasp, my insurance refused to cover Novalog anymore; I have no idea why. I wonder if they would cover this. I am going to ask my Dr. and insurance about this. I am so sick of injections. Thanks for sharing

This is amazing. Some like me have anxiety over taking large amounts and while I’m taking what I need, this can mean your control is tighter as corrections can be seen in much quicker timeframes. Very exciting stuff.

As someone not very insulin sensitive who still preboluses on fiasp, this sounds amazing! I don't think I can give up my pump for basal though, I hated using injections for background insulin

I thought this was cool until 3:15, so if I'm looking at it right the Afreeza is less effective than injected insulin, I would have to be using the 12 unit Afreeza all the time if it's only equal to 8 units of injected insulin as I typically take 10-20 injected insulin for meals depending on the carbs and my sugar level, like 20-22 for cereal and 10-14 for dinners.

I found this video late, but this sounds amazing. I struggle from overcorrections constantly because I have high blood sugars often that can take hours to come down, and when they finally do come down, they come down hard. It's not uncommon for me to have blood sugars as low as 45 multiple times a week. This sounds like it could be more effective for corrections and reduce my risk of overcorrecting.
