I grew up in the West Village and my grandparents used to take the whole family to the Old Homestead when I was a kid. Can’t imagine what that would cost today but I’m guessing even by 1980’s standards, it was pricy. For that reason, the Old Homestead remains my favorite steak house, because the memories are part of it. Gallaghers is a very close second

Keens is awesome. Took some friends from Beverly Hills there who wanted a “NY Steakhouse.” Everything about it was better than expected. Gallaghers is way underrated too. Across the street from my office.

Keens is a great call. Was my grandfather‘s favorite in the 1920s and 30s, and a few of those pipes are his. Cheers.

Hawksmoor is very expensive, and I think the other places would slap harder, especially for a genuine NYC steakhouse experience.

The Old Homestead is far and away the absolute best I've ever been to.

Nice bar area too gets good after work crowd the most comfortable bar stools ever. I’ve never heard of Hawksmoor going to check it

Keens is the best on this list. Went to Hawksmoor for my bday, wasn't blown away.

Hawksmoor was average at best. Best part is the building/ambiance, definitely not the steak.
