I came here 7 years ago, for the first year, I could not make any friends, and I was getting stressed. My family had already lived here 12-15 years before me, and they never had any Swiss friends, I thought there was something wrong with them. Anyway, to make a long story short, after 7 years, I still don't have any friends. Not even anything remotely close. The loneliness here is very hard, specially if you come from a vibrant country or community. I have given up now, and I don't even think about it. Making friends here is the most impossible thing you can imagine. It also makes learning the country's languages difficult, because in-order to learn a language, you must talk with people, and here aside from the usual greetings when buy milk or cigarettes in shops, you won't find anyone to speak with. It is a nice country no doubt in everything else, but you can't have everything.

I am Swiss and even I can't make new friends. I always found it very difficult, especially after you leave school. Swiss never seem interested in you in the long term. As a Swiss female and ENFJ type (!!) at the age of 44 I am still looking for friends. It's sad isn't it....? I just don't get it. Making friends with foreigners is so much easier! You can even show emotions and you're not being judged by it but appreciated for it. If I could be reborn, I will apply for birth relocation!

Lol.... my best friend is Swiss & she's the only Swiss friend I have living here for 10 years. They all have their own group of friends & to be honest I can't relate to them lol. My best friend is an exception 😂 I find it easier to be friends with expats cause we can all relate to all the struggles we have to deal trying to integrate to this country.

I'm a local Swiss ( half Greek by the way becouse of my famaly name but I'm Swiss and born in Swiss)
Its for me much easier to make friends with other peaple in other country or with foreigners moved to Switzerland as meeting new peaple from Switzerland than self.

I never understood why I don't make new friends in Switzerland but making new friends from other country's lol.

I worked for a year in Zurich. Most unfriendly and skeptical people on Earth. My Swiss co-workers either didn’t understand my German or pretended not to. All communication was through email or text. I had an easier time communicating in the Netherlands speaking German!
