A lot of beginners (including myself) tend to forget how important all of these lessons are.

a tip that you can see him doing throughout the video is putting your hand on your front knee/thigh while pushing. it helps with stability and confidence by avoiding the "what do I do with my hands?" feeling. thanks again for the great videos, you're really constructing a bible of tutorials here.

Hey JB as a long time skater I just wanted to tell you what a great job you are doing making these videos. A true service to the skateboarding community. Keep up the great work

Getting a quality board and a skate tool is really important. As a kid my parents got me some cheap board which made it hard to learn anything with crappy trucks and wheels made of plastic. I didn't even learn ollies before I was done with it. Later when I was older and could get my own quality board, I was able to get out there and start improving right away.

I just got some smoothie 58mm with superbearings in. Can't wait to get a session in at my local park. Best part, it came with a skatepark lessons sticker!

Perfect lesson episode for beginners like me🛹💙 now I know how to practice at skateparks. Skateboarding is more satisfying & a more effective workout than gyms have to offer. Thanks JB for teaching me how to skate safely!

Getting back into skating after decades away. These tutorials are super: they're clear, direct, specific, and welcoming. I appreciate that you cover bails and safety each time and rank difficulty and risk. Great teaching! Thanks!

I've seen probably close to a hundred of these vids about pushing, but no one mentioned these important things, such as keeping your head alligned with the board. It was such a game changer for me, you nailed all the important aspects of pushing. Damn, it was so frustrating.

Can you please upload a video where you explain how to commit when scared (ex. when skating stairs, rails or when can't catch a trick with both feet- chicken leg)

Your videos have helped me so much in my foray back into skating! Right now I'm just still struggling with overall balance with me being so fat and front loaded. lol. I tried to tag you in my last video where I made my first ever attempts at carving in a bowl, but I failed. It wasn't totally pretty, but I tried. Thanks for taking the time to respond to one of my earlier posts in Skaters Over 40 Share the Stoke FB group, and turning me onto this channel!

Quad skater here who loves your videos. Also now a long boarder. Mostly for cruising around. This was really helpful. I got my pump carves from watching this a few times. ❤

Honestly I just started skating! I have an Element board with Bones Rough Riders 56mm to cruise better on rougher roads and I'm learning how to push right now. This is literally so much help! I ride goofy and I'm getting my balance by giving the motion of power pushing; it's helping me get confidence in pushing and keeping balance. It's been raining here in Oregon, so I haven't been skating much yet, just practicing balance in my trailer; occasionally going outside and practicing the push. This may sound super noob, but I'm still having a hard time with balance when going into a second push to keep moving. I'm going to keep practicing and thank you for this video! Keep posting as many videos as you can think of man! Good content!

The carve pump method is so much fun! Thanks for including it! The risks are definitely intermediate. I had my single worst skate injury while practicing the carve pump. There is so much nuance to getting this one correct and sustaining your speed or even accelerating (uphill, even!). When I got hurt, I over-rotated in the backside carve and fell backwards, hitting my head on the asphalt. Six stitches! It’s therefore important to keep your front at or behind the bolts. It is my experience also that keeping the back foot closer to the bolts gets you a more efficient push.

Finally my question is answered! For switch push I need to be advanced! Lol see ya next year baby! Long and cold winter has come to my home 🙃
