Damn! The 12400 is faster AND cheaper AND more power efficient than the 5600! It's just incredible.

If you're building you setup from zero or you came from a non-AM4, intel is doing a lot better! But if you already have a AM4 motherboard... sure Amd will be fine...

Great idea to test CPUs in the same price range, can you add as well the price of the different elements e.g. motherboards, ddr4 and ddr5

Is it wiser to go with ryzen if I have rx 6700 to pair it with? With that I will have amd sam too

12400f is even better than 5600x in terms of VALUE!!

I'm so contemplated, so
AMD
R5 5600 => $146
mobo am4 => $105 (Asrock b550m pro4)
= $251

Intel
i3 12100f => $100
i5 12400f => $133
mobo = $145 (OC non-K with BCLK)
=$245 or $278

so 12400f with some tuning would out perform 5600 for sure, but with slight cost increase, 12100f could compared well with better mobo too than 5600, but is it worth it ?
so 2.0, why else you pick intel over amd? and the other why around?
I am building from scratch, upgrading my 3rd gen intel setup.

Today 03/09/2022 R5600 costs $140 and cheapest A520 Mobo cost $60. For Intel, prices are $175 for 12400f and $90 for Cheapest H610. So, Intel combo $265 and AMD combo $200. Do you guys think it would be a good idea buying R5600?

Great I5, but cheapest available motherboard in my country is 100$....this makes intel lose out in my eyes on many customers as even 12th gen I3 has lga700 socket.

5500 and 5 5600 would be top bananas at £100 and £149. Both priced lower than the 12400f

What I’m seeing here is that the R5 5600 performs better in DX11 games while the i5 12400F performs better in DX12/Vulkan games. I wonder why…

As of right now, in my region the 5600 is a heck of a lot cheaper than 12400f, I think gong to a full blown new platform just isn't going to be worth it.

The 5600 is great for people with like 1600/2600 who want an up to date 6 cores CPU. The performance with any middle range card, especially above 1080p, will be the same with both CPUs anyways. But I would build a totally new system, the 12400f would be my go-to. MB prices are still very high though

It looks like both of these CPUs are nearly maxing your rtx 3080 so if you're shopping for any GPU less powerful than that it will be the bottleneck when using either of these CPUS. Basically means get whatever you can find the cheapest.

Definitely go for i5 12400f build, but AM5 is around the corner too

As an intel guy waiting for am5 to upgrade, it’s honestly hilarious how much amd fanboys cope. They’ll always nitpick something. “hurrr durrr but you need intel motherboard which more moneys. Hurrr durrr but the temps. Hurr durrrr but the power draw.”

Conclusion: Get i5 12400f if you like history games, and get 5600 if you like competitive games.
