Are you Team AMD or Team Nvidia? Would you buy an AMD GPU?

It is silly that we call a $900 videocard, "on a budget" these days ....

I've had my fair share of bad Nvidia & AMD drivers, but AMD is the only one who has the negative stigma.

I'm just done with Nvidia's predatory pricing. The fact they tried to pass a 4070 as a 4080 really pissed me off. Unless AMD has poor benchmarks (highly doubt it), I'm going team red. My last ATi card was way back in 2004. Looking forward to a 7800 or 7900 in my rig!

If you are spending $900 or $1000 (ie AMD or nVidia) to play games at 1080p, you are part of the problem.

You made some valid points. I'm leaning towards AMD myself.

If AMD 7900xtx has ray tracing close to the 3090 and really fast rasterization then that works for me

I'm actually impressed by "value" of the xtx and the software seems improved. The display port 2.1 and power used is also impressive. I personally don't care about ray tracing till it becomes the standard or it basically becomes free.

My main thought is Nvidia is f you up for the second generation (prices rise logarithmically), and they are already ditching you up by making DLDSS 3.0 exclusive, what stop them to do the same again when 5000 comes out?

With Nvidia releasing a card thats as expensive as a cheap used car its basically over for me, if the 7900 XTX has the same or better performance as the 4080 its definitely going into my rig :)

I was originally planning on buying a new computer based on Nvidia but between the size of the gpu, the melting of the cables, the price and the high wattage use I've decided on buying an AMD system. Just too many hoops to jump through with Nvidia.

You're a shill.... for common sense 😁 Seriously though, I agree with you.
Nvidia doesn't really make much sense at this point. Maybe a year from now when the prices have gone saner. Right now, they're testing the waters and trying to make the most buck out of those who are obsessed with being first-adopters of new gear. Me, I never had that problem. I don't care to be the first to try out the shiny new stuff

P.S. That's a nice dragonball sweater. Did you buy it or someone knit it?

My rx6800xt does very well in 4k. I can play Cyberpunk at 4k with mostly high settings with FSR performance, and my FPS are 110 on average.

It's paired with an i7 13700k and 5600mhz ddr5 memory. I will definatetly be getting the 7900xtx when it comes out and when I can get my hands on it.

All agreed, but one does not simply pick up the 7900xtx in December just because one want to buy it. I promise you that there will be more buyers than the amount of gpu's at release.

I have three 30 series cards (3070, 3080 12gb, and 3080 Ti). I just got a XFX 7900XTX, and it's most definitely not a disappointment. It also won't be giving me trouble with Vram limitations in the near future. I love my 30 series cards, but you can't go wrong with AMD either. It's a lot faster than any of my 30 series cards, except basically Cyberpunk, but it's about the same. Without RT it runs away with it. I was concerned that they wouldn't have a DLDSR competitor, but then found out their VSR is miles better than standard DSR, so it's not a thing to worry about. I use 4k or 2880p in games, downscaled to 1440p, when there's the headroom. Great card.

I'm honestly not a fan of any of these MSRPs tbh, but let's keep it real, nVidia made a 1k GPU seem absolutely reasonable.

I have no brand preference; however, I use my PC mainly for sim racing in VR, and from what I've been reading, some older titles (such as iRacing) are not well optimized in AMD's GPUs (no support for SPS technology, for example). Is this changing anytime soon? Otherwise, NVIDIA will still be the default option (sadly)..

Right now Nvidia are just being greedy locking DLSS 3 behind a paywall F Nvidia cheap GPU's are a thing of the past

By far the best thumbnail you have made lol 😂 love it. Yeah man when I upgrade in the next couple of years it’s going to be tough choosing between AMD and Nvidia. AMD has come so far and their prices are seriously good.
