"I have started drinking a lot more cranberry juice ( or taking cranberry supplements) since I found out I have kidney disease".

I hear this all the time from patients who come to my office. Cranberry juice and cranberry supplements have been studied extensively for their role in preventing urinary tract infections, but can they benefit your kidneys? Watch the video to find out.

Content Chapters:
00:00 - Introduction
00:43 - Cranberry Juice and Kidney Disease
01:57- Cranberries for Urinary Tract Infection
02:55 - Changes to Your Diet That Will Make a Difference

Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”.

The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way. I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.

Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and YouTube sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

Raw cranberry juice is amazing for kidneys. Anybody that says it’s not doesn’t contain the proper information. Cranberry juice has helped many people I know with kidney issues.

Unfortunately, these types of doctors do not want to support anything that doesn’t top up their wallets. Cranberry juice is absolutely amazing for kidneys, hands-down.

Sometimes a person just wants to find things they can safely eat drink AND enjoy. I use to enjoy a cup of hot cranberry juice or crab-cherry juice with cinnamon. My primary tells me my kidneys are operating at 38%. I won’t be seeing a specialist or dietician for 5 weeks and the internet has a ton of contradictory info. I would love to eat and drink in ways that could bring restoration, but I also want to know if I can safely enjoy this treat.

There’s lots of kidney disease, as a doctor, you should say what sort of kidney trouble you are talking about. So it’s a thumbs down for me
