I love how the movie slowly elevates this song from beginning to end. At first, it's just the guys singing it, but it also works as an introduction to the audience. From there, it's actually played, but it's kind of background noise because the focus is on what's happening between Maverick and Charlie. In the end, it's all guns blazing. The song becomes the focal point and rather than being used as a support for what's playing out onscreen, it's overpowering to the point where what you're seeing is almost secondary to the song itself. Really great use of music and how it was developed throughout the entirety of the movie.

This is right up there with the Earth Angel scene in Back to the Future. When the screen fades to black and the “Baby *baby!* Baby *baby!*” comes in with the fade into the Magnificent Seven-style credits…

Notice the F-14 on the right at 2:28 is the plane they used to film the exterior dogfight shots. You can clearly see the camera mounting around 2:26

What a ending! Top gun is so special because it has the 80ies atmosphere and also a some vintage elements as some songs, the jacket and even the Tom Cruise's Rayban without the brand label on the lens
