My favorite line from the movie was when they were landing back on the carrier and the engine flamed out, and Rooster said, "Don't tell me we lost an engine." Maverick replied, "Okay, I won't tell you that."

This is an epic moment in the film. Humour for that needed audience release of tension and emotion, and a great performance from Jim Hamm here. Also, I love the look on his face when Mav buzzes the aircraft carrier tower and rocks their world. Cyclone ducks, comes up, lips tightly pursed, refusing--REFUSING!!!--to smile. But when he makes eye contact with Mav on deck, there is no holding back. His eyes say it all: RESPECT.

It's so hard to find a favorite scene when the whole movie is a master piece, for me, that "dagger attack" scene with Tomahawk missiles flying above the F-18 was just amazing
