I rewound this scene 7 times in a row watching the movie....and another 8 here...specifically looked up " it cant be" just to see it and Hondo and Warlocks reactions are just as great as the condescending generals "Maverick"....one more time.... and to fully get this if you havent watched it like 400 times already like I have watch the first Top Gun. If it cant be done... Mav does it... classic

The entire 30 second scene is gold. When they realize rooster is going supersonic they are confused. When they realize it’s in an f14 and hondo looks up cause he knows. They don’t even fathom that’s its rooster alone stealing the jet. It has to be Mav.

The look on Admiral Simpson's face at 0.25 seconds summed it all up; 'His exploits are legendary'. I never get tired of watching this scene. If Maverick's exploits were legendary before, what will they be now that he stole an F14 right out of an enemy's hanger and downed two 5th gen fighters with it.

The gong at 0:15 is just fucking masterful. Gives you everything you want and need. Its that connection to the story, to the character that movies miss now. It doesn't need sassy quips. It just needs suggestion. We can do the rest. Just amazing.

The funny thing on rewatch when they were talking abt the base they mentioned the enemy base “still having some F-14’s” but you dont even think abt it 🤣🤣

My father and I watched TopGun in downtown theater
It was inspiring movie so i decided to become a pilot.
So, im pilot now
I hope to watch this movie with father but my father passed away last year because of covid 19,
i feel empty.
