Hopefully you can answer. My 07 ford fusion burned a head at 65, 000. We changed it, geared down the whole engine, replaced oil pump, piston rings, engine computer. Finally, ford technicians make it work again. With on the dealership p0012 code on; this guys told me to change the solenoids which didn’t modify anything. Your theories are great, but some should be not considered at all, due to the fact that everything is “brand new”, oil clean, etc. I’ll talk with the mechanic in order to check what could be the problem. The car losses lots of power on hills, my god a nightmare! Everything else works fine, since brand new up to now 2022.

Hey man, thanks for this. You’re perfectly informative, and my mechanics over the years haven’t been able to tell me what causes this code. I’m going to get a new VVT and see if that fixes this.

Well lucky you, I cracked my valve cover open to replace my vvt solenoid, then noticed the cap and spring was gone from the locking pin on the phaser. Nope...not dismantling the entire passenger side end of engine just to get to a stupid sprocket. Don't have the time or patience. Goodbye Mazda

I had a p0011 code and changed the oil, replaced my solenoid and cleaned the vvt oil screen. This resolved the issue for about a month but now I have a p0012 code. I wonder if it has to do with the timing chain. I have a 2005 Toyota Echo

This is true for Japanese vehicles, but for German cars, p0012 means Vanos solenoids are detecting a bigger issue, and that just means a much more expensive fix and not a simple oil change. It’s a generic code, but every engine and computer has its own procedure to fix

Funny that in older cars you could use different oil weights because of weather conditions (extremely hot or cold climate) or driving habits (short or long trips)…

2014 ford escape was running rough up hills and was louder then normal.Oil was changed out and the filter. How long does it take for then vehicle not run as rough?I put in a fuel injector cleaner as well. Thought it was a coil pack issue. But it's pulling the code you are speaking of.

My oil light came on and I added a quart. Light was still on, so I added more but then the check engine light came on too. Like an idiot I added more oil and that code came up. Car quit running and now I'm freaking out, worried I ruined something. I really hope it's something simple that an oil change and maybe an oil pressure sensor replacement will fix.

I am replace v tech solonide volve and check wiring harness and the problem still coming again, Engine oli is new and no dirt in the engine and timing chain and cameshaft also good so finally I am replace a ECM then the problem solve this is my experience what happene other I don't know
