Brilliant video. Thanks. The ignition cycling method cleared a solid orange engine warning light on my car. 😊. This was a false alarm caused by the start stop system. Had the car booked into a garage but after using your method was able to cancel and save some money.

Bingo!! Thank you so much for this video. I have a 2021 Subaru Outback that displayed the check engine light and several others. I removed the negative (-) battery terminal, held the horn down, turned on the lights, etc, for a minute or so. After reconnecting the terminal, everything was reset, warning lights gone and everything is back to normal. If it stays this way, I will cancel my appointment with the Subaru dealer in a few days and save myself $200 or more. Thank you so much!!

@Mechanic base' thank you so, so, so very much for your upload. My issue was over forgetting to put the oil cap back on after topping up. Feel so damn stupid. Never did such a daft thing like this until today. Head overload with life. Anyway engine light fault message was first displayed on screen saying engine repair fault, then a soild engine light in yellow.
I had not driven far. Got home oil cap on windshield. Oil checked most of it in tank. Oil spats around. Engine light stayed on, fan kicked in for 5 mins. I couldn't get light off. I tried your in and out turn key method. Worked to T. Engine light off. Thank you so much. I just don't have the money for repairs over dumb ass mistakes. You saved me and my pocket. Those seem to be good methods. One more I've used is to remove both battery terminals and tie the two wires together with a wire to discharge the current. Be sure to put something nonconductive between the cables and the battery posts. Some folks say to leave it like that overnight. Generally, I've found it works in about an hour or so. I came to this video hoping to find info regarding the light still on even though the codes show as cleared on my I'm reminded of these various discharge methods and will go back and try one of these methods.

Hello! This method worked on my 2013 Kia Rio. I did the battery disconnect, press horn 30 secs, and reopened and tightened my gas cap and drove about 20miles, and then the check engine light went off. Thank you sir for the video.
