I had a 1996 Mazda 626, after about 100, 000 kms. the engine light came on at which time I took it to the dealer who replaced multiple fuel related products. Still the light remained on, over the next 125, 000 kms I had the transmission and engine rebuilt and still the light persisted. When I sold the car at 225, 000 kms. the light was still on truly one of the most useless inventions ever installed in an automobile.

Wow! Thank you for the helpful tips. I save a lot of money for not bringing in my car for a check up because the tech will want me to fix this and that. The car is still drivable and it’s been over a year, no sign of danger or funny noises. The car is over 220, 000 miles and still going.

Well explained if the car has not changed it driving performance in any way its usually ok to carry on, most of the time its to do with fuel admissions, years ago we didn't have these warning lights apart from oil, battery ect, now its to hopefully stop breakdowns in advance, get the nearest garage to plug in there mini computer to tell you what the problem is.

I was ( been) driving around 2 years or more with a check engine light code P0500 I read from several comments that they had replaced more than once the VSS vehicle speedometer sensor and their problems would continue.... My advice is to take pictures before going for repairs, etc and do not leave without again checking. I engraved a replaced part, paid 72 for a new one and I arrived home with my engraved part. I requested what I had paid for and I got it because i had my evidence (my pictures). Most mechanics do not care because their bosses back them up into doing wrong things. I forgot my own advice days ago with a new battery. I forgot to check the installation the young guy for forcing into place... next day I saw smoke from starter plus the negative connector had melted and got embedded on the battery surface. Car had to be towed Today I also noticed the positive cable shorted, a half an inch hole showing wires. Made by the installer and his difficulty to hook up the battery firmly to its based? If I had looked I could have caught his unprofessional work to avoid today the cost of new parts plus repairs. We cannot trust mechanics or parts shop personnel. We are on our own and appreciative of videos like this and all others that try to help us.. Many thanks.

Extremely good explanation with safety notes.I was driving good, need get gas.On a very rainy day stopped at Speedway gas first time generally I get from Shell or Bp.After driving out from gas station the check engine, tire and VSC came.Some one suggested to change gas cap which I will do.Some time these lights don't come and sometime does.Please advise.Thx

Hi found your channel after watching Scotty (the car guy). July 15 .22 I've flashing engine sign came up, Toyota 09, 175, 000miles, when I pressed gas padel not much power over 40 miles .afraid of stucked in highway, went mechanic , he says, need change spark plugs and 1 wire cost 350.00 don't no much about car. Agreed to. Do work, fell like ripped off, if you desperate no choice from on if I see same sign I will not afraid driving learned good lesson from your vdo and subscribe to, will watch more Tkx for your suggestions, wishing you. Fuel tank cap. My Mercedes check engine light would come on intermittently. I noticed it was after adding fuel. Stopped car, turned off engine, removed fuel tank cap then returned it to tank insert with three good clicks. Check engine light would stay off. I finally purchased a replacement fuel cap. Car runs better than ever. Check for faulty fuel tank cap.

I appreciate this video and found it to be very helpful. I recently had my battery changed and within a few days ( I do not drive often or much when I go out as I work from home ), both the check engine yellow warning light and the AWD yellow warning lights came on. I am in the early stage of trying to figure this out, so I have turned to utube for some help. Thanks for what you do here.
