No we've got Warframe at home.

Thanks to the Patreon and Twitch subs for keeping the channel going :)

Doing quests to make people worship you is actually a really smart way of fixing the "why am I eternally a lowly helper being a dogooder" problem almost every MMO has. Turning it into agency is great. More MMOs should copy that trick.

I mean Thanatos is literally part of Greek Mythology, so while I wouldn't put it past Disney for trying, that would be an impressive victory.

"If you ordered Warframe from Wish, you'd get Skyforge" - this genuinely made me laugh, love it

"You are immortal but can't swim."
Just like real life. You are immortal until you die.

Wow, back when I played it, the personal temple was _an actual building_ you could visit and walk around in. This game has taken quite a few steps back.
I played with friends. One major issue was the weekly limit on exp gain, making sure I could never catch up to my friend who had started just a week earlier. And when we went into dungeons together, the level difference was high enough that he didn't get any rewards. We played up to the point when you gain god powers - and it turned out that you can only use those in certain missions. So much for "Become A God".

It wasn't always like this.
At a certain point, Skyforge's progression system was actually the thing that hooked me to the game. They had a fairly basic equipment system, but one that still worked. There was also the temple, where you could gain followers, send them on missions, and build some buildings. Guilds also had progression, and all the members contributed resources to strengthen themselves and the other members.
But the best part was the Ascension Atlas. It was the most unique skill tree system I have ever seen. Yes, it was grindy. Yes, there were paywalls. But it rewarded you for actually thinking about your build. Some players could even one shot enemies that should have been way above their level...
But after the Ascension update in 2016, they switched to the current mobile like progression system. So, technically, the game was developed by the same team. It was simply developed twice. One time as a pc game. And one time as a cash grab.

"I don't care how small the text gets, I'm keeping all your names on one page"

I'll remember that when the Patreon list is just a white screen, Josh.

_"That's a very nice collection... would be _*_shame_*_ if someone were to review them all!"_

I kinda like the idea that in a world where immortal people exist, people who don't stay dead, the big bad is the god of death. It fits.

"I'll be honest I put that bit in so those of you watching on second monitors would hear the word "jiggle" and start paying attention again." I feel called out

The true reason for the PC upgrade: needed 1440p to fit all the patreons. Lets keep it up and he'll be forced to make 8k videos in few months.

Really sad thing is, on launch it didn't have any of the mobile stuff, it was a pretty solid action rpg with mild mmo elements. You had a skilltree you could grind and unlock the classes on (or pay to skip to x classes starting point on the tree to unlock them and progress the tree from there instead), but in general it felt pretty solid, f2p players that I knew at the time got ~2-4 classes for the most part unlocked in relatively decent order.

Seeing how far it fell is pretty damn sad.

your jokes are getting better and better, my dude; "when the gravedigger enters play he can return a creature from his graveyard to his hand" had me laughing so hard I had to pause, and "Warframe if you ordered it on Wish" is even better

The thing about the dialogue audio variance around 16:30 might actually be related to camera position. It seems to be quieter when far away and louder up close. It's possible that the game is coded to vary the dialogue audio based on proximity, which could make some sense in a player-controlled environment, but is pretty bizarre in a cutscene.

The sad part is that the mobile-version feeling and the simplification of the game happened about a year and a half after it was released. The initial version was actually a lot better, had character skills customization, skill trees and a lot more. So yeah, it was exactly two games that got mashed into one.

P.S. Also the content is mix and matched and new and old dialogues are mixed up and that is why the audio levels vary severely, the voice acting is by different actors or missing at places and so on.

P.P.S. The game actually used to be open world and you could try all classes in the VR setting and... I am getting more and more sad seeing what has happened to this game.

The voice cast has the likes of Robbie Daymond ("The only voice actor who can actually emote"), Matt Mercer and Elizabeth Maxwell in it! This is why good voice DIRECTION is important, everybody!

I've always loved the idea of making a game with all those hallmarks and red flags so people who start playing are like "oh great another 'tap to wait unless you buy gems' experience." But then it never ends up asking you to pay for anything and all those cool items turn out to be unlockable just by playing for a perfectly reasonable amount of time.
