Have you ever felt so angry you thought you might explode? Contrary to what some might think, anger is a normal and valid emotion that is vital to the success of our species. But what happens when we become overwhelmed by anger and 'flip our lid'? When the amygdala (emotional brain) takes control, how do we regain control and deal with our anger? We often hear the phrase 'anger management' but it's important to listen to what our anger has to say. Sometimes anger is just the tip of an iceberg with other emotions lurking beneath the surface.

Thanks for your insightful and very helpful videos. Waiting out the anger response is something that has been helpful for me in the past. Lately I forget that I should sleep on responding to something that has flipped my lid. I believe it was Carl Rogers who wrote something about anger that resonated with me, maybe because it's simplistic. Recalled as a mantra: Anger and guilt are flip sides of the same coin. One is triggered by reality not meeting our expectations. The other comes when we don't live up to our own expectations.

Very interesting, I’ve just watched all your videos. Love it, it looks like Kurzgesagt, very clear and highly qualitative.

Nice video. Very good summary of the psychological under pinning. Have you considered making a simple version for kids? A separate version for parents and parents would be beneficial

I just realized why I have a problem with anger. I don't want to feel it, like ever because when I do it just starts a domino effect in me and my actions. But anger is normal, it's an emotion built in us for survival, it has a purpose. Instead of getting rid of it, it's best to accept that we'll experience it and be prepared to override the impulse. Just breathe and take it in while staying still. This way we can stay in control until we can think properly again.
