The BEST 1-Mile Run Strategy

The Ultimate 1-Mile Strategy

The basic idea is that while intervals are a GREAT way to train your body for a mile, DOING intervals for your run is NOT recommended!

“One pace wins the race” is a great motto to rememeber! Go into this with a pace goal in mind. If you have a goal finish time, google “mile pace time to mph” and you’ll be able to see a conversion of what speed in MPH to hold to get there!

Begin with your goal pace right away! Settle in knowing that the first half of the run is going to feel pretty managable… you might even feel like you can go faster! But save that energy for towards the end to make sure you don’t burn out!

The halfway point is a good place to start checking in and make small 0.1-0.3 adjustments to keep you fighting in the second half!

0.5 TO 0.75 IS THE HARDEST PART! That’s all a mental battle… small adjustments… confidence in yourself! Then for the last 0.1, BOOK IT! Every one of us almost always has more to give for the last 0.1 so just go for it!!

With all of this in mind, I hope you crush it today! Let me know how it goes!!

P.S. don’t jump the rails after unless you ran a 5 min mile @ 15% incline! #nowdoit

Think about this, the faster you run, the less time you have to run. 🤔

Absolutely based. I'm at a 5:56 mile, working on breaking the 5:30 barrier. I've been interval training to get used to the 10.5 speed. Hoping to get it by the end of the month.

I'm here because I need to run 2 miles and I go to Army basic training next month. Takes me 15-17 minutes to run 2 miles. This guy is correct with how to run a mile.

This is incredibly good advice for all physical activity. It is cliché, but steady wins the race. When i box or run it is all about understanding you have "X" amount of energy to spend, trying to ration it off in equal increments

Yes this is the right way . My time used to be 7:30 - 7:12 .. but now its 6:10 easy . So maintain your tempo and in the last 200-300 mtrs start speeding up and in the end black out and see jesus .

In the very end, full sprint. Thats how me as a 7th grader, got early 6:00 (i haven’t gotten my time from my PE coach yet)

When I’m trying to run a fast mile, I normally stay at a really fast pace, not a full sprint, but not too far off and then I’ll normally keep it to my third lap when I will switch to a fast jog and then the last slap I will sprint as fast as I can

Its often better to have a slight negative split (though its mostly up to personal preference), so if you run a 5:00 mile, you might want to run the first 800 in like 2:31 or 2:32, then the second in 2:29 or 2:28

Great advice im in 8th grade i was in track and cross country, recently got my time to 5m 58secs and got the best in school it takes alot but if you are determined you will succeed the best advice i could give is when no-one else is training you do extra because thats what leads you to win

7:02 on a treadmill but my friend did a smelly fart in front of it so not sure if it affected things. I'm probably slower now I'm heavier.
I'm a believer in the one pace after I climbed a 37 storey building for charity (on the stairs not the outside!) people were passing me at the start and I caught them back up as they floundered nearer the top.
You have to try a slower speed first and if it was too easy, take a break, bump it up one notch and try again.
