There is no one size fits all therapy. DBT has a high success rate, yes, and it has helped many people, but I think it is quite ridiculous for Linehan to say it works for everyone regardless of the severity of their symptoms, history or circumstances in their life. There isn't any therapy, no matter how beneficial many may find it, that's a panacea. Personally i find DBT very difficult to apply and absolutely hated it. There are other therapies to treat borderline personality disorder and you have to find the fit that's right for you.

Yea dbt good in many many ways. One thing tho is it seems almost cult-ish at times and (not but, AND) I think there are side effects from DVT and unintended consequences. Like the radical acceptance part really how is that different than disassociation and setting boundaries how is that different than trying to have control over thinks. Yes if somebody has any sort of confusion or issues regarding disassociation and or control issues with themselves being the issue or another person around them being the issue then it gets hard to disassociation with radical acceptance and also boundaries with control. So I think there’s some things about DBT that are not good for many people and maybe it’s just being kind of brought to the surface now or (I’m not really sure) I think that’s definitely something that should be explored though.

Didn't work for me. Actual therapy helped.
