When does nursing school become the hardest? In this video I share my personal experience for when nursing school became the most difficult for me and why I thought it was the hardest semester.

At some point during nursing school you are going to experience a semester that is particularly challenging. It may be because of a heavy course load along with having to complete many clinical hours, which leads to less time for studying etc.

I hope this video helps give you an idea about what to expect during nursing school, along with helping to encourage you that although nursing school is tough at times it does have some "easy" semesters.

Thus far, y 2nd semester of my Jr. year was also my hardest. I'm entering into my last semester of school and I'm hoping it's not too bad. That 2nd semester all about killed me; mental health class and clinical, Fundamentals 2 with a huge focus on fluid and electrolytes, also a Med-Surg clinical, and pharmacology. Many tears were shed and thoughts about quitting. I did survive and was glad I didn't quit. I can't believe I'm entering the final semester, it does go by fast even though when you're in it, it feels like you'll never make it through, haha! Good luck to everyone!

Easiest- 2nd sem (OB & med surg). But right now is my toughest!! I’m in my 3rd semester (Peds, mental health, & adv med surg)...I’m so discouraged & overwhelmed. So thankful for your videos though. They really help me! These exams have been brutal. Just praying I pass!

Thank you so much for all your videos and every selfless piece of advice you give us. Junior year (med-surg) hands down the toughest thank God I made it. and I have literally taken a declaration in every class since then, that if I can get pass that I can get pass anything!

I am going to be honest. My anxiety levels are shooting through the roof as the start of school is approaching. I purposely don't do any notes during my breaks because my brain always feels fried during the previous semester alone. When the semester begins, I question if I can survive the succeeding semesters. Surviving the past semesters cannot guarantee another survival. It comes to a point that I want some Xanax, Valium, Ativan or whatever tranquilizers out there.

I'm entering my last semester of nursing school (yay!!) So far, the hardest semester for me has been my first semester of my senior year. At my school, they included both Med Surg 2 and Mental Health as one class but it's actually two different lectures with clinicals. Half of my cohort takes Med Surg 2 and the other half takes Mental Health and half way through the semester we switch. So we're cramming in 14 weeks worth of lectures/material and clinical into 7 weeks. The worse part was that both lectures had only two exams and we had to score a total of 35 out of 50 points in both Med Surg and Mental Health SEPARATELY so that when they combine the points together you had to have a total of 70 out of 100 points overall to pass the semester. And another part is that if you don't pass each lecture with 35 points (aka 70%), you can't move on to the other lecture. There were a few students from the previous semester that didn't pass Med Surg 2 so they couldn't move onto Mental Health. It was so stressful because if you don't do that well on the first exam, you had to score really high on the second exam to achieve 35 points and do really well in the second lecture in hopes that you will get 70% overall at the end. Plus I was also taking community nursing and another gen ed class on top of working, projects, and studying. We were all just so burnt out by all the stress and chaotic schedule. By the end of the semester I was just so physically and mentally exhausted.

Totally relate to your experience. Currently wrapping up my spring semester of junior year with pediatrics and maternity. Very hard content with lots of clinical hours. Also had a clinical judgement course that had clinical as well. Definitely my hardest semester, heres to hoping senior year is more merciful

Currently taking classes in the ADN program. I love it. I haven't completed it yet, but I'm barely making through it. So much information crammed into a 2 year program. We do tests every other week, which is not part of your grade but you're out of the program if you fail. I love your videos, you helped me pass so many exams 😁😁😁

I am entering my 3rd out of four semesters. My first was just fundamental and pharm 1. The second one which was my hardest so far was Pediatric, Med Surg, and Pharm 2. Most than half of the school was struggling the whole semester. 😢 Thank God He helped me to pass.

I'll be starting Senior year (BSN) next week and have clinicals for all three classes; Med-surgical, community healty, and OB. I think it will be the hardest semester for me with all the clinicals and theory classes.
I really appreciate you uploading videos as I've learned a lot watching your channel. Thank you!

In Canada, specially in the province of Quebec, classes are different. The hardest one, was surgery 3 class, which is the 5th semester out of 6. The class includes internship + theory + final exam (you must pass everything to pass the surgery 3). You could reach the 5th semester only if all the biology, psychology and sociology classes are complete. I remember the stress.
Easiest was the third. LOL psychiatry was easy.

Been there, done that!

Yeah, when my third year in nursing school was over, I was sooo happy. :) The Philippines board exam was also tough. We had to answer 500 multiple choice questions----300 questions on the first day and then 200 on the second day---and reaching the passing score was diffucult. Thank God I passed the board. I really cherish my Philippines RN license. I'm preparing for the nclex. I love all your videos. Everything's easily understood. I'll definitely answer your nclex-style questions for my practice. I'm so excited on your organ donation video. I hope to watch it soon. Thanks again Sarah! You're heaven-sent! :)

My current semestert!! Semester 1 of Senior year: med-surg 2 and 8 weeks of OB and 8 wks of Peds with clinicals for each. In addition we have a BSN research type course as well. I just keep telling myself, "Come on! you can do it! you're so close to the finish line!!!" all in between mental breakdowns. Haha.

entering 3rd semester on this accelerated BSN program. and I was SO FRIED at the end of semester 2. The program started in May2020 but I really started my pre req's at a fast pace oct 2019. So - It has been pedal to the metal complete focus for over a year and I'm so tired. Glad to have this 3 week christmas break. . . trying to prepare my mind of focusing again for Jan-April then try my best to focus for the home stretch May-Aug 2021 for graduation. This is the most difficult challenge I've taken on when it comes to schooling. It is the consistency and intensity that is not for the meek. Everyone is saying here that peds ob is the killer lol YIKES that is what i'm doing this coming semester!!!

A&P 1&2 why because my Lpn training was 12 months. My thinking was it would be easier because it was a Lpn program. I was shocked to find out the we have to complete the whole entire text book in 6 wks😫😫. I had an exam every 3 days 3-5 chapters. I hardly slept. Thank God my professor was a Dr who was very good at teaching he didn't use the textbook. My easiest was maternity and peds. My professor for that class was a labor and delivery nurse who also teaches at another college close to my school. She on the other had did use her text book but she adding her real on the jobs experience made a didn't. Overall I didn't struggle much in Nursing School enjoyed all my classes pass my exits exams, my ATI exams, my hesi, and scored 99% chance of pass nclex on the first try when I took my ati nclex predictor.

Semester 2 has been absolute hell for me. Fluid & electrolytes, HIV/AIDS, Acid base imbalance, PERIOP, Infection, Antibiotics, musculoskeletal all packed into one semester. I didn't pass by less than one percent and have been so hard on myself. My anxiety got the best of me and I second guessed every critical thinking question, down to two answers. If you have any advice on test anxiety and how to handle it I would appreciate it! I can't retake nursing 112 until January :(
