I wish Scotty would tell us how he really feels about car dealers!

My 2017 escape just turned over 210, 000 miles, same engine. I have been following his advice and changing the oil every 3000 miles. Mine is a freewayflyer though, 110 mile daily commute. The water pump lasts about 100, 000 miles so I change the timing belt when I replace the pump. It has been a good little car for me.

The more I see Scotty's videos on newer cars, the more I am SO happy to drive my 06 Avalon and my '13 RDX - Large V6s with relatively good gas mileage and proven motors that last. Maintain, repair and keep! New cars have nothing I need.

This is why I chose an Escape with the 2.5L duratec engine. They're meant to last a long time. Its the same engine they use in a lot of commercial vehicles.

I’m sitting in my 2017 Escape while typing this message, lol. It’s a company vehicle thank goodness so I get a rental when it breaks down. At 24, 000 I needed new wheel bearings and new tires, at 70, 000 I needed a new turbo charger, and engine, at 80, 000 I needed a replacement transmission. The list goes on and on… I’m at 112, 000 miles and so far it’s holding, why? Because 90% of this vehicle parts are new. got to love the escape, It’s been in the shop more times then I can count.

That ticking sound is the fuel pressure pump it’s annoying sound but it’s normal. I have a 2.3 ecoboost I love it

For myself, this another example of why I do not like or trust small engines with forced induction. Similar issue with my brother's 2018 F150 third motor replaced under warranty. Sold it and now looking for a replacement truck.

2005 mercury mariner with 222, 000 miles going strong . just change oil and regular maintenance. 3.0 duratec engines and transmission bulletproof

When it comes to Ford, the 5.0 and the 6.2 are the best they make. All the rest are boat anchors, including the Power stroke.

This is a result of the "Get Better Mileage Crowd". They don't care how long your $40, 000 vehicle lasts.

Probably ain’t a great engine, but I had a guy come work on my Company Computer, he was driving a lil Escape 1.5 Ecoboost Turbo with 362, 000 miles, original engine and Turbos, I asked him about oil changes, every 10k with Ford oil.

I had one turbo engine that broke down at 34k miles, thank god it was still under warranty. I got rid of it after two issues, steer clear of turbo cars if you want longevity.

Cars should really have bigger engines than my motorcycle.

just picked up a 2009 Ford Escape XLT with 174k. Bought the Dongle Scan tool you recommended which worked great. The 3.0L V6 engine is in great shape, the Transmission is good to go. The frame and body are not rusted out. Put new tires on it, upgraded the interior from junkyard parts which were in pristine condition. AND it's all paid for! Thank you Scotty for teaching me the right way to work on vehicles and what to look for. Keep up the Awesome Work!!!

This is why I ordered the Maverick Hybrid, 2.5 liter engine should be understressed for daily running.

When you show the repair receipt, make sure that the name is visible so we know who not to go to. The creeps might just do the repair again the right way.

You say don't get these little GDI engines but when you buy a new car you don't have a choice. That's what all of the manufacturers use now. I bought a 2019 VW Jetta because my 2012 TDI Jette was amazing. Nothing ever went wrong in 180, 000 miles with terrific gas mileage and lots of power.
In 2019 They had one engine to choose from. The 1.4 GDI. There were no other options from the factory. So far it's amazing. 62mpg is normal on my commute because it's flat with steady traffic.

And here I am in my 04 Ranger and it's gone past 241, 000. Runs a little rougher than it used to, but it runs.
