Long ago my older brother had a 1946 Ford pickup. It had a flathead six engine with a four speed crash box transmission. We did some paint and bodywork on it. He drove the wheels off of that truck. I learned about double clutching on that truck. That truck was simplicity itself. Then he sold it so he could marry his first wife (of four). Big mistake. I miss that truck. I miss my brother, too. He was a long-term type 1 diabetic. He died in 2009, age 65. Ah, memories of simpler times.

My 2015 F150 Lariat had the same rear window problem. It’s a design defect, the upper track that the window slides on is just held on to the rear window by 4 X 2in pieces of double sided tape. I cleaned off the tape on the plastic upper channel and the rear window. Then I used some double-sided nano tape and ran it along the whole length of the upper channel and stuck the upper channel to the rear window. The fix has held up for 3 years in the Florida heat so far. The dealer’s fix is to replace the entire rear window for $1300. I think the Nano tape cost about $5 + a couple hours labor prepping the surfaces.

The 13th gen F-150's come standard with the auto start/stop. It's easily disabled by unplugging the connector for the button that's under the dashboard which puts the system into bypass mode.

I've had many cars in my lifetime. Can we please get rid of all this crap that is making cars and car insurance much more expensive. In days past, I could get parts and fix my old cars. They were very reliable.

I have a 2024 f150 5.0 4x4 10 speed and honestly I love it. I got 26mpg from South Carolina to Maine. Asked about the rrans and they said it was the 2017 to 2020 that is the one to worry about. The plastic pieces they made metal in 21 and the 24 is even more updated.

The issues with transmissions dropping into 1st was on 2014 trucks with the six speed auto transmissions not the 10 speed. Ford has issued a recall for them.

My 2020 Explorer ST has a 10 speed transmission. 3k miles in it would not shift out of 1st gear. It was trucked to the dealer. They replaced a couple components and downloaded new software. That was over 4.5 years ago. It has 70k now and the fluid was exchanged at 60k. Since that initial fix I have never had another problem (so far). It did get another software update around 30k.

When I was shopping trucks 11 years ago I was told that I’d never regret buying an F150. I bought a 2015 F150 Sport with the 2.7L V6 Ecoboost engine. 10 years later and 157K miles later I do not regret the purchase. No engine/transmission issues at all AND my sliding rear window still works fine!

Unacceptable problems. And that is one of the better ones that I know of first hand. No v6 turbo junk for me. Scotty you do A LOT of flip flopping on cars and trucks you say you would never own!

My neighbor is the senior mechanic at the local power company. He purchased a Ford pickup in 2021 with that trash transmission that scotty complains about. I asked him why and he simply stated that the meter readers and supervisors were driving those trucks 350, 000 to almost 500, 000 miles with no major problems and, knowing how rough those trucks were treated here in West Virginia, he couldn't think of anything better.

I have a 2014 with a 5.0 and 6 speed trans. I just had a transmission recall for the possibility of dropping into 1st gear while driving. Involved a computer update.

I’ll keep my 1990 F250. 4.9litre 300cid 5 speed manual shift. More electronics in the am/fm radio than the entirety of the rest of the truck. 4.11s in the rear end and still religiously getting 17+ mpg. Best buck I have ever spent.
