I used to go to california with my grandparents every year from texas. My grandpa liked to go to vegas on the way there and back and wed always stop at the Hoover Dam along the way. Its impressive to see in person. I havent seen it since i was about 9 or 10 and i still remember it as if i was standing on it yesterday. Im 37 now.

Kariba dam on the Zambezi is a close second. There are about 8 people concreted in there because once you start a pour, there is no stopping. There is no steel reinforcing in it, but about a thousand miles of copper tubing that had a refrigerant running through it to slow down the concrete setting process in the hot African climate.

Yes, it is the most and the best dam in the world, but also it got the natural best river Colorado River in depth/ the geological advantage. Glad I had been there before 2000 and the visitors weren't as many as it is right now.

Still never forget the memory to have a visit The Dam. Having this first standard prototype dam, I look around the prevalent flood problem in Australia in different geology and water system distribution. Would like to say, God give the US a good river...
