I'm an Uber driver in Minneapolis. At first, I wasn't going to comment on your
presentation, but then you mentioned the entitled customer. Customers
who have the nerve to treat their driver as their private servant, and at the end
of the trip not even give a tip, are a special kind of entitled jerks. When I was a taxi
driver, even the people working in convenience stores would tip, even if it was just a
dollar, but these uber jerks will get in the car, after spending $100 on drinks at
some upscale bar, and demand that I change the radio station, or let them use my
aux chord, then when the trip is over, and they've received a deeply discounted
fare, compared to what they would pay in a taxi, the bastards get out of the care and
don't tip.
It's not all the customers' fault though. Uber cultivated these people, by encouraging
the drivers to treat these bastards like some kind of royalty, by giving free bottles of
water, and candy, and all that other crap. In addition to that, uber spent years marketing
their service to the public with words like, “... tips are not required or expected.”.
Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot?!?!! Uber turned exploitation into a business model, and the
drivers are the exploited.

As a fellow uber driver, I came here to relate. I could not. You thinking they owe you a conversation rubbed me the wrong way. Jeez.

Uber and Lyft both should pay their drivers from origin to termination.

He is absolutely right. I have been driving for Uber for a week, and I am only averaging about $5-$6 per hour. This is about half of minimum wage. Shame on Uber and Lyft.

I greet every passenger nicely and then leave it up to them to talk. Don’t take it personal if they are just on their phone. Some just want to go from point A to point B and keep to themselves. Some usually don’t want a conversation forced on them

You should care about depreciation even if your car is old or planning to keep it for ever...

UBER keeps track of All miles driven when the App is turned On. They are a business expense. It will reduce your tax due to I R S.
You can log into your account on a computer uber.com, and see your tax forms. I think the IRS gives us 56 cents per mile credit.

As a person who rides I don't want to have a full convo everytime I'm taking this to work because I work downtown and dont want to pay 20 a day for parking so if you drive for a convo that's cool but your entitled to think everyone has to have a conversation with you as a passenger

Sensei tested it. 3 stars or less is only for Lyft. If you don't want to be paired anymore on Uber you have to call support.

I miss when Uber was actually a good company to work for. It used to be 80% for you. 20% for them. Now it’s random percentage. So you never know what you’ll really make. I remember once I made $30 for going the airport from Bartlett. About a 25 minute drive. Now I’m doing good making $15 on that same route. I’ve seen where Uber takes 50% of the fare. and I’m like this is bullshit. They don’t take in account we have to drive to go pick up passengers. Maybe not a big problem in Los Angeles where most your fares are nearby. Where I live in Memphis. It’s common to get fares across town. I’m only doing it to supplement my money for my travels next month then I’m done with Uber. It’s not worth it.

Dude not everybody wants to talk.. Some ppl actually prefer to have drivers that just be quiet and not prob them for personal info or whatever. It's cool that you're a ppl person but it shouldn't affect you that much.

Would rather not talk to an uber driver. I'm paying to get a ride, not know about your life. I'm very polite and will say hi and thanks but that's all. Some people don't want to talk.

I drive a taxi. And all I can say is that you appear to be the rude one. People get in my cab because they want to sit back and relax, and they pay me to do the work. If they want to talk I am happy to tell them about the area or wherever the conversation may lead. I would never get upset because someone wants to just chill in silence. Sometimes as humans, we need time to sit and ponder. I once had an Uber driver that didn’t try and talk to us, so I gave only $1 tip. And one that was super nice and really was interested in our conversation, I gave him $20 tip. This difference is, I was paying them not the other way around. Just relax and you will probably make more money in tips.

MetalJoVeku i worked as a delivery driver and some taxi companies using my personal car and i can tell you almost every job as a driver SUCKS, customers don't respect you sometimes and employers don't care whether or not you make good money at the end of the night, also maintenance, car repairs, and gas is all paid by the Driver, some nights can be rewarding but you can't always expect good days

I started driving again. Recently my rating went from 4.85 to 4.82. The thing I forgot from before is that if someone calls you before the ride and they sound unhappy in any way, you have to cancel the ride. You will not be able to appease them and they will lower your rating. You have to remember it is a cruel world and when you are out there trying to provide a good service, people do not care. They do not care if you have food to eat or a roof over your head. From now on, when they call and sound bummed in any way, I have to cancel. I can not let my rating slip. Sad, but that is how this fucked up world works.

Who gives a shit if they want to be quiet? As long as they don't bother you and leave without incident.
There will always be ones who chat. Don't worry about it.

Ok but sometimes people have anxiety. And we are introverts, like me. I say hello and I smile and I ask how they are but then I just wanna get to my destination. I’m horrible at small talk and a lot of people are. Don’t take it personal.

I can't see any good reason to drive for Uber, there is nothing good about this company.
