I Drank Because of feeling Anxious, BOREDOM, Fear of the Future, depression, intrusive unwanted thoughts and O.C.D. One more reason worth mentioning is past traumatic experiences. Thank You Sober Leon.

I drank because I enjoyed getting wasted and I'm a pretty awkward guy in large social situations (I've gotten much better) which when I was drunk made me a lot more out going. The problem was I went from drinking 3 beers at a party to drinking a bottle of whisky to myself. Soon my fun loving buzz turned into a drunken mess that nobody wanted to be around. Then when I drank by myself I was blacking out. I drank because it was the only thing I knew how to do for fun. At 36 years old I had a 4 year old son and a pregnant wife, if I didn't stop it was going to destroy not only my life but possibly my family as well. After a very bad night of drinking I promised my wife I'd never drink again and I did. I learned over the course of a year to have fun other ways. I started riding BMX and downhill mountaining biking, started 3d printing and building replica props and models, I play a ton of video games and I recently started indoor rock climbing. I'm 6 years sober now and drinking actually sounds boring to me. My point is that sometimes people (like myself) drink because that's their only hobby and then they get hooked. It's a reason for drinking that I almost never hear people talk about and I think is an important topic for people to think about. Good luck to anyone trying to kick the habit no matter what your reason.

Despite what the alcohol ads say, being drunk does NOT help you make new friends or become better at flirting.

past early childhood trauma is #1. Its way easier to escape buried negative emotions than it is to unpack the truth and process the pain.

I found you on YouTube by accident. I’m a drinker and have been wanting to stop. Everything you say about how people view alcohol is 💯 true. You make a lot of sense. I’m going to continue watching your videos man. Keep them coming. God Bless brother.

They need to market advertising that shows the emergency rooms, car crashes, fights, broken families, unemployment, suicides, rapes, domestic abuse, self harm, liver disease, comas....

Reason # 6 sounds like Yoda from StarWars "There is no try. You either do or you don't."

I drank Whiskey to feel more Manly and Masculine. Because I felt I did not meet the subconscious criteria for being a "Real" man. I don't know how to fight. I get frightened easily...I COULDN'T GET DATES WITH WOMEN...I'm kind of Timid. So I felt Whiskey brought me and my character closer to being an Authentic manly man. Hence the hangovers...the wasting of money...the wasted time...and the poor choices made. Wow...what an "authentic" man I Became...NOT! The marketing and the Images associated with alcohol is a load of crap. It is a marketing trick. It is a lie.

"buying into an illusion that someone else has created because they want to profit from your addiction" That really resonates and makes it all the more apparent why alcohol is often referred to as the demon drink.

Mine was socially I needed it but the disasters while out drinking were getting worse I had to quit by changing my social life and learning to live my life without alcohol, if I’m anxious socially without drink then I just have to tough it out and learn relaxing techniques, socialise with people I’m relaxed around without alcohol and learn new hobbies away from alcohol!

Just joined your channel and I'm not at all offended, in the days where, well, almost everyone is. I used to say its only beer and liquor. Not true. People say weed is the gateway. It's not. It's alcohol. I used to make fun of "hard drug" users but then went onto go do coke or meth to stay up because alcohol had me up all night and what I made fun of and swore not to do, I went on to do and it kept me productive just to let my true love, (alcohol), that let me down, keep me up, so that I could then see "her" all over again. Living hell. Wish me luck. Thanks.

This deserves more views. You've explained more sides to drinking than most people I've seen.

Everything you say is true. I quit ethanol. I try to watch a video of yours every night. I walk and work out. I keep a journal of my worries and triumphs.
