I love the way light is portrayed here. The pale king was bright but his light was gentle and bugs were allowed to assert their own mind within it. The radiance's light was harsh and overwhelming, there is no room for one's mind only her.

It's fitting that the "forgotten light" dies screaming her name into the void's abyss.
Also, this theme got me thinking that if the Shade Lord could speak and had a lyric video as well, it would be a counter to what the Radiance says.

Love the line "Everything living is under my command." It shows how Radiance is not only narcissistic but also blind. Hornet, The Hunter, The Maskmaker, The Nailmasters and Nailsmith, heck the Mantis are explicitally not under her command.

For some reason, I got the idea that during the whole song radiance is trying to intimidate the knight and make him her follower like the rest of hollownests bugs ("gaze upon me speaketh my name")and getting more and more angry and irritated. And the knight just keep hiring her with the nail, no throughts head empty (probably even with equivalent of the most dull face a bug could master.) Like a pure vessel should.

I'm not gonna bother with a funny joke or anything, I'm just genuinely blown away by Caaaarl's performance as the Radiance. She sounds so entitled, so indignant, so regal and imposing and so... Radiance. It just fits our beloved LÄMP moth to a tee.

But also, her performance just makes me wish even more that we got a full version of Daughter of the Dark God from the first Songtober someday.

Story context: An angry god of light brought a plague to the kingdom. The king made several vessels from the darkness below the kingdom. The best vessel fought the light god and contained the god and plague within itself. Now the vessel is leaking.
You play as one of the discarded spare vessels. In the default ending you seal the plague within yourself and kick the can down the road. In the true ending you enter the vessel's mind and kill the light god.
