You, Sir, are not “Just Josh”. You are an authority in tech and other channels should look at yours and take notes. Your rigor, choice of words, review detail, video presentation, and other parameters, leave sooo many channels out in the dust. I really think you should know this because I’m always looking out for your videos! Thank you for your work and for sharing your knowledge with us!

For $500 budget laptops I’d like to toss in the Acer Swift 3 14” for $400 at Walmart with 1135G7 and 8/512GB AND the older IdeaPad Pro 16” for $550 at Micro Center with 11300H MX450 and 8/512GB. Both have great IPS 100% sRGB 300+ nits and 150+ PPI. Only downside is 8GB soldered but for most casual users and budget shoppers I think it’s alright.

But, you're only recommending them on your first impression. If you want to really now about laptop brands/models you need to talk to someone who works in IT support at a large company, like me. I've purchased all the major laptop brands/models and from my experience I can tell you one thing. Your average entry level to business class Dell laptops are garbage because their batteries tend to bulge after 2 or more years because they have CRAPPY quality batteries. The best brand laptop I've used that has held up over time is the Lenovo Yoga for Carbonx1 model. However, avoid the Lenovo Carbon X1 Gen 9 model as they have a battery charge port issue with that model batch that requires a motherboard replacement. Regarding Apple products, be aware you won't be able to run many Windows applications on it unless you're running something like VirtualBox and a Windows VM. Also, never buy a laptop with less than 16GB memory for office productivity apps. If you can afford it get a laptop with 32GB and make sure the memory in the laptop is expandable and know what the max memory capacity is.

I just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen7 with Intel i7 (non-vPro), 16GB, 256GB, OLED 500nits display for just under $1600. It usually retails for over $2K. Thanks for all your reviews Josh!

Excellent video. Thanks for your hard work. I wish you mentioned Thinkpad laptops like Thinkpad Z13/16, X1 extreme or Carbon.

Thank you for this video, yours is definitely the best-crafted on this topic ✨

I'm watching it on my Acer Predator Helios 300, which I would personally NOT recommend to anyone...this is the first (and will most likely be the last) product I bought from Acer and I've had nothing but hardware and craft issues ever since I've had it, from certain keys not registering keystrokes (unless I press them with the weight of a thousand Suns) to the AC Adapter going out after a couple of years, to constant bouts of freezing up and random BSODs. I've had this thing for just under 5 years since buying it in Summer of 2018 and I had to open it up the year after to fix the keyboard issue, just for it to come back a couple years later. I can't even use it for gaming anymore (which is what this thing was made for) because the battery disconnects any time an above-average level of stress is put on it 😩

I would also throw in the Hp Aero 13 for the budget laptops. Ryzen 7 5800u, 16gb of ram and 1tb ssd. Plus can get it with a 500 nit QHD display. It’s also virtually silent.

We have the cheaper 5600u model with 8gb of ram for our kid for school and he absolutely loves it. Great battery life as well

Great video, Josh! As for suggestions for the follow up video, the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro, 13, 3" with an i7 1260P processor, 16GB RAM, goes for something like $1200 where I am, and is something that I've been looking at as a work laptop to complement my desktop since it is so light and portable.
For me, a light laptop with an HDMI port is a must since I don't want to risk forgetting the dogle at a conference presentation. I also like the keyboard, and that you can adjust the fans manually. However, I've heard that it tends to run hot, at least in performance mode, which may be a problem using even light Photoshop from what I've gathered. Would be interesting to hear whether you think it is a good investment, especially if the Macbook Air is not an option.

The ROG Flow x13 with the Ryzen 9, RTX3050Ti, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM for just $999 is just crazy
