The Troop sounds intense. I may have to check it out.
Glad you enjoyed Rebecca. It is a great book. Looking forward to the new adaptation with Lily James.

I had the exact same experience reading the audio book of The Institute, where I was so confused by the start of the book where it seemed like it was a completely other book.

You had a great reading month :)!! These books are actually all on my TBR, so it's nice to know you enjoyed them. I didn't get to read much for fun in October because of all the things I had to do for school, but I still read a few graphic novels and also a horror manga, "Smashed" by Junji Ito!

'Rebecca' is one of my top five favorite books. It was so good! I looked it up and Manderley is based on the Menabilly Estate in Cornwall, England. Apparently, Daphne du Maurier lived at the estate at one time. I had no idea the book was based on a real place. I'm really glad you mentioned it.

I really want to read the Troop! Love that you read the Goosebump books! Do you think you'll make it a vlog series of you reading more of them?

I read the institute but I really loved it. I also read Rebecca and I felt the same as you, gave it 4 stars, and yes I felt the same about the character, thought she was weak and felt like she could have more confidence and a little more “oh well, who cares” kind of thought process.

I remember you read The One and Only Ivan this year and liking it and so I picked it up this month and read it. Oh my gosh it was sooo good! I never thought I’d give a middle grade 5 stars but that one was so good. Have all the feels and so easy to read and blew me away that he was a real gorilla 😥

I've been wanting to pick up The Troop because it sounds so interesting, but I don't do well with bug-horror, so I don't know that I'd be able to stomach it.

Did you hear about the podcast on books in the freezer (for chilling obsessions)? I think it’s all about Goosebumps books and the tv show from the 90’s. Welcome to Deadcast is the name, I’m pretty sure.

Hello. I just finished Rebecca last week and I liked it! I gave it 4 stars. I like the writing very much but I can’t say so much with character development. The new Mrs. de Winter had lot of issues for sure. Lol.

I hope to get around to Rebecca at some point. That book has been on my TBR for years!

I may have to give Rebecca another try. I checked it out from my library months ago and read some of it and was so bored that I took it back. It seems so descriptive which I don't like.

For "Rebecca", don't you think that she was chosen BECAUSE she was weak? That that was one characteristic that was sought out?
I have "Troop" and intended to read it this October (you know, Halloween and all that stuff) but didn't get around to it. I'll have to let you know what I think when I do read it. Now it is Non-fiction November.
Good reviews, as usual.

I felt the same way about The Institute. The ending was very lackluster.

Great wrap up, I always like your detailed but spoiler free reviews :)
Have you watched the Alfred Hitchcock adaptation of Rebecca? I highly recommend it if you do not mind black and white movies. I also made a spoiler free comparison of the book and the movie in my channel, if you wish to check it ;)
Thanks for the info on Manderley.
