Fav book that I read last month was probably "A Monster Calls." Super short, but pretty gut-wrenching; one of the few books to make me tear up. And the illustrated version is stunning!

Using a middle grade fantasy to start testing the waters of fantasy is really smart! Feels like a good way to ease in. Also fantasy romance maybe? I hope your anxiety shuts up soon. Miss your face. ;)

Not being able to do the things you love because of anxiety can make you feel so hopeless and awful. So sorry you went/are going through that! Good to hear it's getting better, I hope you can get back to reading whatever the fuck you want soon!

I felt the exact same way with josh and hazel. I didn’t get butterflies reading about them and the last 2 chapters really killed me! Corny as heeeeccckkk.

Kiss quotient and josh and hazel are both ones I want to try.
My best read in Oct was probably the testaments by Margaret Atwood and Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare.

❤️ If you are jonesing for October reads down the line, you could always have October in January or anytime of the year. Glad you're taking care of yourself and are feeling a bit better.

based on what you didn't like about permanent record, I'd recommend trying out Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo, it's more young adult but it has the whirlwind romance with an idol, you get both of their perspectives, think it might work a bit better for you!

I also missed all the spooky reads in October! I was busy with The Goldfinch, but it was Amazing, not at all what I was expecting! I also read The Marsh Kings Daughter by Karen Dionne which features one of my new favorite female badass characters.

I didn't read a lot of spooky stuff, because I was reading Victorian literature for Victober. I did film a video of me reading Sleepy Hollow and I read Wuthering Heights which had a spooky element.

I was iffy with the Kiss Quotient, and agree, strong beginning but drawn out problematic ending that I didn't jive with.

Every time you ask what my favorite book from last month is my brain does that "What are books?" thing. Lol. (It doesn't help that my current read is devouring all of my bookish brainspace.) I did reread The Wicked King at the beginning of Oct, so that's the automatic answer, because... just because

Totally agree on the ending of J&H.. could've done without. I've been teetering on permanent record, it sounds like I'd like it, but idk when it's a good time to pick it up to read.
