As Asians, we usually have a rice cooker at home and use the finger to measure water level. However, I really appreciate Bens very clear instructions for cooking rice in pot on stove top. Thanks Ben, I learned something despite eating rice literally every day. 😃

I love that I’m still surprised and shocked that there is a Sorted video on a Friday ! It also reminds me that it’s Friday...

A lot of comments talk about "just used rice cooker" "why sieve?" but every culture that eats rice have their different way of cooking rice. Not every country uses rice cooker. I am asian myself and even in Asia different regions cooked rice differently. For example the basmati, the Indian style rice are cooked in either way, straining the water after being cooked or absorbing the water. It depends. This video is made for viewers to show the accessible way especially attending to those whose diet does not regularly consist of rice.

Just wanted to say that these Friday lessons are excellent. I've tried all the other recipes/methods in the Friday sessions - and they're all Delia-level infallible. One of the best things about them is that they work at every level. You can learn to cook from them or - like me - they can correct mistakes I've been making my entire life.
It's really appreciated. Many many thanks.

I'm gonna keep saying it. This is my favourite series you put on. Would the rest of the team be at all interested in sharing their simple & very tastey dishes, or maybe favourite cooking trick in action making a dish?

I really appreciate the calm clear instructions with out making me feel like I'm 5 and only visiting the kitchen.

As always love the teams obvious joy with food.

Absolutely loving these Like a Chef videos. Old school Sorted, and doesn't talk down to us. It's also brilliant seeing the way the chef thinks: everything done in ratios/using other things to measure ingredients (old milk bottles you know are 500ml etc) .... then again, that could just be a Ben thing

Sorted uploading a 'how to cook rice perfectly' video after just failing the pass it on is absolutely ironic!

Your long grain rice method is how my grandmother showed me how to make rice in 1977, but without the spices.
She roasted the rice a little longer in Butterschmalz so it had a little colour to it and it is delicious.
When you roast the rice you need make sure it will not burn. The rice grain starts to puff up, then the rice is starting to brown - now it is time to put the water in.
I'm using my grandma's long grain rice method for 43 years now and it never fails.

Pass it on idea: Jamie's daughter comes in and chooses 15 ingredients that the guys should be cooking.
