To have one cell on top of multiple columns, simply choose the cells you want to present as one and press on the button "Merge & Center" on the Home tab under Alignment section.

you have this titled completely wrong... thats why you are getting all the down votes.
you have people who want to take cells b1-b40 and cells c1-c40 and put them into cells d1-d80

thats what your title looks like it will show us how to do. I know because thats what i came here for.

and how do I get 2 columns in one cell . I want cell A to split in in two, how do I do that ?
