Thanks for your lightning demo on how to insert columns in Word online.
The whole idea of removing the functionality is, of course, to provide an incentive to businesses to pay for a better grade of software.
But I really appreciate this workaround. I am a student with access to Microsoft 365's online software only.

AH! Thankyou. I've been using Layout-Columns to do this but it seems only to provide for contiguous (as in a book) text when I wanted two columns with different information.

Using Tables to create columns in the way you explained serves my purpose very well.

this is profoundly complicated and ridiculous. it boggles the mind that word 2003 is a FAR SUPERIOR AND MORE USER FRIENDLY PRODUCT than this app. why in the world would a company take a useful product and then make it worse and worse and worse with every new iteration?

Why did you select 3 columns and then delete the middle one when you only had two? Why didn't you just select two? Also, a good reminder to viewers is that without installing an extension the cut and paste feature does not work on Word on the web, so you have to use Command keys.
