I wish I had kept a record of the number of times in life that I've put forward an idea or suggestion which has been put down and strongly reacted against; only for it to happen a year or two later when everyone thinks it's a great idea!

Being an Ni user in an Ne-dominated friend group is thinking of the perfect analysis of a situation or topic, only to realize everyone started talking about something else five minutes ago.

As an INFJ I really relate to your comments about trying to express thoughts. An INFJ's thoughts are full of detail and nuance, and it is difficult to translate this into words that will get the listener to experience your thought as you do. In addition, for the INFJ, it tends to be more important to communicate the feeling than the fact. So communicating in real time is difficult, but in writing there is the time to do the wordsmithing to get it right. As someone once said, INFJ's are clumsy talkers and eloquent writers.

Explains so much about my school life.
I was tested as an INTJ, and seeing this helps to explain why I had such issues with some subjects. Especially, say, ALGEBRA. I comprehend the concepts just fine. Solved the problems in my own way, and the answer was CORRECT, but the teachers would always become frustrated because either a) I wasn't doing it their way or b)the answer just came to me and I didn't show work at all.

Only 1 teacher asked me how I solved the problem in a shorter way, and let me do it that way.
Even in college, the professors HATED IT.
If they claim it is to get you to think "outside the box, " then why was I punished for solving it in my "outside the box" way??

Never understood until now!! THANK YOU.

Being an Ni dominant is hard. With a scientific reinforced society that runs off of measurable facts, it hard to explain how you know and being taken serious. Most people assume you are running off of emotions or fantasy. They don't take into consideration your track record of being correct into as if they should listen.

Does anyone else do this: I’m an INTJ and I can almost never remember a person’s name, but I remember things like how they like their coffee, their favorite drinks at a bar, their political affiliation, their favorite dog breed, etc... One week after meeting my wife for the first time and 3 dates later, I still had to keep asking her what her first name was. But she was amazed when I bought her some things from the grocery store when visiting her home and they were all the things - including her favorite specific brands - she used all the time! She later admitted she thought I was very weird. I will sometimes see someone I used to work with 15 years ago (I’m now 60) and I will have to ask them their name, but I will comment how they’re still driving white Toyotas, that they’re still wearing the same style glasses, talk about how much they must dislike Trump because they are a liberal Democrat and ask them how upset they were when their favorite TV show (Mystery Science Theatre 3000) was cancelled. It is pretty weird!

Yeah, this is probably the most real Ni-video I've ever seen. Every single piece of it. Brilliant Ren! :)

Ni has saved my life lol! during some math exams I've had. I'd sit there frustrated not able to figure out a difficult problem so I'd move on to the others, but then... The Ni solution God arrives and I don't question it, i just write what it tells me lol!

You described Ni perfectly. I like the "circular" analogy. Well done on describing something so abstract. Subscribed and liked.

Re: the circular tangents…. My husband described this as my need to have a “grand theory of everything”…. Endless connections that all go back to a core concept or idea.

These are seriously the best descriptions of Ni that i've seen anywhere on the internet. You really know your stuff!

Do any other Ni doms have insane dreams?

I agree with nearly every point you made except perhaps some exceptions to talking about the past. If a person has had a traumatic past, then a form of PTSD might contribute to talking about past more often as a way of processing it. But an Ni user will not be tied to traditions. They may except some traditions but usually won't except "This is the way we have always done it" as a reason why. They will have to evaluate for themselves if they except past traditions. But the future is more important to them than the past. I see Ni as a concept of timeless and univeral. It reaches into the past and future as in archtypes but difficulty staying in the moment.

INTJ here...."A weird film between you and reality." Thank you so much for mentioning that. This is the first video I've heard referencing this experience. All my life it was like a clear glass or plexiglass film between myself and the rest of the world. A form of separation. Until my Mom died, then it was more like a thicker, opaque barrier which took about 7-8 years to fade away. Now that is gone, thankfully.

Some good points here! Really interesting with the circle analogy, I used a very similar analogy when I made a video explaining Ni in a recent video! The thing I feel Ni gives me the strongest ability to do as an INTJ is figure pretty much anything out. My brain just knows where to go, what to find, the pieces needed, and how to put it all together to achieve the thing, or understand the thing.

Great video. I hadn't heard before that Ni doms have trouble with names. I'm INTJ and while my memory is usually stellar I don't remember names at all. It usually takes multiple encounters and hearing them before they stick with me. It's something that's always bugged me since can recall events, times, etc. really well. At least the ones I was paying attention to. :)

The subconscious, where dreams are formed, strictly communicates in symbols and metaphors. Being an Ni dom puts us in contact with that region of awareness all the time which is why translating our insights into a language that concrete thinkers speak can be a daunting task, to say the least but with much practice we can improve our communicating skills.

Something to try for those that are interested in what the "spacey" feeling is like (will work better if you're sensitive to caffeine):
(1) Drink tons of instant coffee while pulling an all-nighter so that you don't feel tired when the sun comes up.
(2) Ignore the feeling of a hyperactive circulatory system from caffeine, and the numbing buzz of the mind from lack of sleep.
(3) Congrats. You now feel the spacey experience of "being aware of the moment yet kind of not there" of a Ni dominant.

Every revisit to playback this clip after some times lapsed would let me gained a bigger picture and a deeper reconciliation and greater appreciation of your efforts.
An emotional INTJ filled with gratitude and thanksgiving.
I will always remember you for making such a meaningful piece of work to clearly illustrate what is Ni domineering to everyone whom is puzzled and wishes to have a better understanding of this astonished function.
