Youtube TV How to Add Users - Share Your YouTube TV Account and Give Family and Friends Full Access

YouTube TV allows you to share your account with up to 5 other people. And in this short video I’ll show you how to add members so they can watch YouTube TV without any extra fees. The main requirement is that anyone you share with has to have a Gmail email address.

Once you have their Gmail address, sign into your YouTube TV account on a web browser like Chrome or Firefox. Then click on the icon image at the top right of the screen and then click on Settings. On the popup menu click on Family Sharing. Then click on Manage.

If I want to share YouTube TV with another person I'll click on the button that says Invite Family Member. On the next screen, I'll type in the Gmail address of the person I want to share my account with. Now click on the confirmed email address that shows up in the search results box. Then click Send. And when I exit out I can see the pending invitation and the expiration date.

At this point, the person you sent the invitation to will get an email from Google. The recipient just has to click on the Accept Invitation button. And then they can sign into YouTube TV on any computer, phone, smart TV or other streaming device using their own Gmail account. And that’s how you share your YouTube TV account with others.

And here are some final notes that will be helpful for you to know. Even though YouTube TV allows you and 5 other people access in one account, only a total of 3 devices can stream YouTube TV at any one time… including yours. Also, shared members do not have to live in the same house. But if they live out of your Home Area or another state, eventually location restrictions will kick in. At that point, their account will be locked out. But check out my video on the end slate to see what to do when an account gets flagged for lockout.

I've thought this through. I wish my YouTube TV account was on a separate Google account, not my primary Google account. Why? Because when I added friends of ours it also gave them access to family sharing of additional Google account storage. I've not found a way to restrict that. I think the solution would be to run a secondary Google account specifically for YouTube TV, add any five additional accounts for YouTube TV and keep personal stuff separate.

Can I add a family member during the trial period. Having trouble with setting it up.

I've seen conflicting information online. Can I add a user outside of my region? Or will that user lose access because they are not in the 'home region'? (My sibling is in NM and I'm in UT)

The worst thing about Youtube TV is the sign in process and adding family members. I am thinking about canceling it for this reason alone.

I am in my family group but everytime I go into the Youtube TV app it asks me to start a free trial. I have already accepted the email invitation too and double checked on google that I am in the family! What did we do wrong!

@TheRenderQ I, too, am getting conflicting information online re: "adding a user outside my region." I'm not trying to beat YouTubeTV™ out of their money; I am paying for multiple users, but only trying to use ONE additional user -- one who happens to live out of my region.
Can you (or any other person reading this commentary) clarify this for me? (Using a Roku device if that makes any difference.)

Ok, my question…I have the base plan, with 4k for unlimited streams in my house. I’ve been having an issue with Redzone. It’s says unlimited streams on the plan. I have it twice, one for the sports tier and for the Sunday Ticket with Redzone. Google says that I can have unlimited streams in my house with 2 streams available outside of the home. This past week, once the 4 stream of Redzone went on, one of the others got booted. This even happened with all 4 streams were on my WiFi network. What is the issue here, what am I doing wrong ?

Hi! I did what you said, and it's still trying to request that they pay to watch YouTube tv. Please help. It states choose your plan.

This is ridiculous how hard it is just to add a account to the youtubetv. Ridiculous

I know the family share is 6 logins but only 3 can stream at the same time. Can I pay to add a 4th family member outside my house?

If you're on a family plan as a member, youtube tv now requires you to be in the same area code.

So if I have 5 friends or family that live in my region but outside my household does that mean only 3 different streams outside of the home network can watch youtubetv at the same time?
