How to watch Youtube on a TV - Which?

Watching Youtube on your phone or laptop is fine, but sometimes you just need that bigger screen. How to watch Youtube on a TV is a question with several different answers but we’ll try and give you the most common methods here.

You can watch Youtube on a TV by casting directly from your phone, using the built in Youtube app or connecting it with a cable. How you do it will depend on your phone and the TV you have.

Do you remember when Youtube used to let us PAIR with the TV from our phones or laptops? We would search on our Youtube phone app and it would automatically play on the TV (without "casting"). Any ideas on why they changed it? Thanks for the great video.

Casting from your phone consumes a great deal of data off your plan (if not able to minimize data consumption via a WiFi connection). It is also slower, than a direct feed from the TV. The one solution I didn't see, is doing everything on your TV, and using a keyboard to find the video you want to watch. So, a better way to go about all this, if you have a lot of YouTube videos that you need to watch (such as when learning things), is to use software such as the YTD Video Downloader. You can use this to capture and save the videos you need to your computer, then save those videos to a USB player, or DVD and then watch them as usual on your TV, and enjoy easy selection of the videos.

Normally the Casting to your TV is a option on the bottom right hand side of the screen but these days thats getting harder to find. Is it somewhere else ?

I need a video that tells me how to do everything on the YouTube TV app, such as marking Watch Later or reading Comments. I know I can hook up a cable from my computer to TV and iPhone TV (I have all the adapters I need for that) or I can use Chromecast, but all of those require looking back and forth between TV and computer/phone which is not only tedious, but requires me to take off or change my eyeglasses each time. I am using YouTube TV app on Tivo and I haven't found how to accent Comment or mark as Watch Later. Not sure if the same on my Samsung TV but can check it out.

Hi I have a HUMAX FREESAT + 1100S box which is where I get youtube from, as I don’t have a smart tv. The back button on the Humax remote control does not work on youtube, this means every time I want to watch another video I have to come out of YouTube completely then go back in and select another video. Ich kann nur deutsch schreiben ich hoffe du verstehst es.
