So if you are going to have brain fog in the afternoon anyway, then exercise like a madman at 3 pm and take a half hour power nap

I feel the opposite. The hardest I train and the more tired I physically get from a workout, the more I get focus and mental clarity later on the day. It just shuts down all the anxiety and intrusive thoughts.

That's why I train after work, then I can do chores and sleep easy.

The body will prioritise the brain over everything! I’ve never had this happen

That’s actually why I workout. I have ADD & anxiety and think a lot, sometimes repetitively obsessively but after a tough workout everything calms down and I feel normal.

This is how I knew there was a confounding factor when some studies would imply exercise makes people smarter. It's yes and no. Yes exercise makes you healthy and a healthy body in turn inadvertently makes a healthier brain. But during those moments of exercise? No. As a person who has many thoughts and ideas all the time, I was aware of how working out had put me into modes where I would just have my brain be shut off as I stared into the void. My creativity went down dramatically.

It sucks that I can't have the best of both worlds. The best I can do is balance both. But in conclusion, your body has finite resources.

the funny thing is that the more I workout (functionally) the more energy I have throughout the week

Resolution : train 2 times a day about 60% of original time period. Intense and short session will mantain your training volume and prevent brain fog or something

Oh my god this makes sense. I used to work out at 6 pm at home and used to be very creative and motivated in the day. Lately I joined a gym and started going at 7.30 am, and found that after j get home I'm just exhausted and even after i recover energy, I'm just not so motivated.

If I do cardio i.E go for a run early in the morning around five am; I feel much more alert, aware and my brain is functioning better than just waking up and drinking a cup of coffee.

That’s why I train hard at the end of the day/evening and sleep like a baby fully recovered the next morning.

I definitely experience this. A quick nap after a workout usually helps restore energy and focus for me. I also drink coffee with some MCT oil. The energy from the MCT gives me mental sharpness.
