This is really relevant to many people. More on this subject would be really helpful.

Andrew Huberman is one person on this planet who I respect immensely. His words, research, and desire to share these important facts about the way our brains and bodies operate is the reason I have made conscious and active steps towards improving my life and actually working towards my health. This guy is someone to not only be admired but praised for his work.

Moderation is key for unproductive habits. If u overdue it that’s where u will begin to slip away

You will enjoy leisure activities when you know you deserve them. Living for leisure will never let you experience true relaxation in satisfaction.

I can relate to this. Truth is I’m not enjoying the old habits and dopamine chasing at all…I just got stuck on the carousel I can choose to get off today time to take a leap of faith this ride sucks.

When I was a kid, my parents had a rule of no video games during the school week, so I could Friday afternoon to Sunday night. I enjoyed them infinitely more than now, because it was special, highly recommend taking breaks

This is so true man everything should be balanced, you'll find yourself unfulfilled with the things that gave you joy when they are all that you do

I had the same experience. I struggle especially if I'm low on testosterone. I play non-competitive games a bit each day or every other day, I started working on my own projects and not spending a lot of time looking at my phone. It's definitely been a lot better. If I'm inside a lot, I make sure to go outside and let my face absorb sunlight multiple times. But what's interesting for me is I'm tacitly realizing something about the food and drinks I consume are a major root to any time I'm not feeling my best.

During an event, when it is better than you expect, your body releases dopamine. If the event is worse than you expected, your dopamine levels drop. For that guy, he played video games so much that his expectation was so out of reach that he could never meet it. That's why he stopped having fun. A dopamine detox trains your brain to lower your expectation of certain events. For example, you might only be satisfied after eating 5 pieces of chocolate per day, but after having 1 per day for a while, you will start being satisfied with 1 piece of chocolate per day.

I literally just did the same thing a few months ago! I got off games after 20 years of playing everyday! I do more with my family and feel proud of myself for all I get done now!

Have to say that my focus skyrocketed and my reliance on ADHD meds basically went away after doing a week long “dopamine detox. I did not anticipate this at all…
