Yeah my mom was much older than my dad, she drew off her own benifits for years and sadly my dad died before he reached retirement age and my mom was switched to widow/survivor benefits.

Are you an attorney you seem to know a lot about these laws that other people seem to get screwed over on I find it very interesting that you're covering these topics thank you

I’m drawing full railroad retirement. My spouse is much younger. Assuming I predecease her can she collect railroad retirement widow benefits before her full social security retirement age then her own social security? When would that be to her advantage? To her disadvantage?

I took my widow benefit first as my Social Security will be much higher than my spouses when I turn 70

QUESTION -Is there a certain income that is the cut off? Like if your income is too high, does that make you ineligible to get Social Security, even if you had paid into it?

Ok so I’m 6 years OLDER than my ex husband. I’m 62 he is 56 he won’t retire for a loooong time. My full retirement age is 67. I’ve been self employed for most of my earning years. If I retire at full age I’ll only get about $1200 a month. My ex makes great $$ I draw off his or do I have to wait for HIM to retire? How would that work?

I wish I’d married rich and not have to worry about all the SS mumbo jumbo. But I love the hat!

If my husband is five yrs younger than I, if I draw my SS at full age (66 and 10 mos), do I half of his or do I get mine and then when he is 62, I can draw half of his even if he isn't drawing his yet?

I'm still confused ..if I become a widow say at 64..and taking SS..do I automatically become
eligible for full widow benefit not until my full retirement (at age 67)?

Ex spouse younger, so if older 1 takes SS at say 63, and switches at 68 when ex spouse turns age 62, Is there still a reduction?
