You can bend the knees as much as you want. Bending the knees more helps you keep a neutral back without arching over. The key is to have a stable stance - which you achieve by thinking hinging the hips backwards and engaging the hamstrings and glutes.

This isn't wrong. It targets upper back more.

The whole god damn back day targets lats: lat pull-down, cable rows, underhand barbell bent rows, machine rows with vertical grip, anything pulling from up downwards.

It's about time people actually start focusing on upper back

I don't get it, I can't straighten my back like this unless I fully arch my lower back. But these videos all say neutral back. My relaxed back in this position is rounded heavily

It doesn’t have to be deadlift at the starting position. You could have it resting on uprights on a power rack it as long as it’s around knee height

Pulling the bar to your sternum, and having elbows wide like this, will ultimately work more of your upper back.

For a more Lat intensive row keep everything the same but elbows closer to your side and imagine pulling the bar towards your hips.

Bringing the bar up to the sternum is new, never seen anyone demonstrate it that way before.

keeping that weight too much in front can lead to lower back injury especially if you dont brace your core. I would recommend to keep that bar just touching(not literally) your body and pull the bar up to belly button
