Gene Hackman is a true legend. He owns whatever movie he is in. Actors today are well below the bar Gene Hackman has set.

"Go Bama!, Roll Tide!!". I've heard that over and over and never tire of it. Hope everyone is safe out there.

Next to Top Gun this movie probably got the most recruits to join the Navy. This is badass!

How could a warship carrying Little Bill Daggett, Aragorn, and Tony Soprano ever lose a fight? Fucking unstoppable. Unless of course you had a sub with Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn and Sean Connery.

And let's keep in mind this Gene Hackman is a real Marine

That moment when they say " Go Bama - Roll Tide" and thank you Hans Zimmer for completing that masterpiece. One of my most favourite movies ever.

This makes me cry like a baby. My father was an 18-yo Marine on Iwo Jima and I attended Alabama football games since 1969. A perfect storm of "make a grown-assed man cry in his beer."

Cpt. Ramsey is such a genuine character, in flesh and blood soldier !!! One of the best movies ever.

Severely underrated movie. I finally watched this last week and was blown away. Better than Hunt for Red October, K-19, and probably Das Boot although I know a lot of film nuts would consider that sacrilege. The score is so fuckin' good, too. Zimmer pulling through as usual and it makes the movie whole.

The unfortunate part about this is that most times in the media, the Silent Service is forgotten when war is the topic. You'll hear about "boots on the ground" and "front lines" but hardly do you ever hear about heroes on submarines. Thankfully we have movies like this that give us a glimpse into their world, albeit a stylized view.
