I was pastoring a church on Bama campus a few years ago. An elderly life-long Bama fan was dying in the hospital. We wanted to do something special for her before she passed so my wife called into his office to see if there was anything they could do. An hour later she gets a call back from Saban's personal secretary. She said they are loading up the buses to head for the airport for the National Championship game. She said she'll see if she could catch him. She did. Coach Saban signed a bunch of stuff and thanked her by name for being a huge fan. There was a shirt and Bama jewelry in the bag. She got to enjoy it before she passed. Much of it is buried with her. Saban has my hightest possible respect.

Played D1 ball and sometimes the only thing that could break the daily grind and tension of a long season was the team comedian. Made ya feel like everything was gonna be alright, if only for 20 minutes. Thank you to all you talented team comedians out there, past and present.

We had a guy in high school who could do our DC perfectly. in the break between our two a days... he was at it on one of his best profanity laced diatribes... when the coach turns the corner and walks through the middle of us and without looking at the guy just laughs and says .... AND JONNY KNOWS ITS TRUE DONT YA John lost his breath.... and we all died laughing
