It's a tad bit of relief that Milton has been downgraded from a CAT 5 to a CAT 3, but due to him arriving in less that 2 weeks after Helene, the ground is still completely saturated.

The Milton Hurricane was primarily caused by warm ocean waters, low wind shear, and a favorable atmospheric environment for cyclonic development. Climate change, rising sea levels, and changing ocean temperatures also contribute to the frequency and intensity of such storms.

Massive mangrove plantations could help protect coastal zones by stabilizing shorelines, reducing storm surge impacts, and providing natural flood defenses. Tampa Bay has a salinity range of 18-36 ppt, which is suitable for mangrove growth, as mangroves thrive in areas with brackish water and salt tolerance. Therefore, the region is potentially suitable for mangrove plantations.

You don't have to be a scientist to see that rising global temperatures are making storms stronger.
