I had Firestone, in Houston, give me problems about their tire. It was sitting for three day, so no heat or wear. It blew out the side, with an explosion. I took it in for replacement. They claimed it was my doing and refused to warrant the tire. I told them it just blew up out the side wall, as they can clearly see. They said it would have to be sent out for independent inspection and it could take 4 weeks. I called them out on it and demanded that is what i want. They never thought i would do it. After 40 minutes of the manager calling his district manager they agreed to replace it. Turns out it would cost them $120, just for the inspection plus shipping.
Never trust Firestone.

For those interested, it was Firestone on wallisville road, 77015 in Houston. Fair warning to all their customers.

I dont worry about Tire warranty... I buy the road hazard warranty from Americas Tires, also known as Discount Tires, twice now in 3 years saved me money from flat tires on the road. only paid $43 for new replacement of $200 tire. well worth it.

Tires are like anything else you get what you pay for I worked for and eventually ran a tire shop for years, most people don’t care about tires quality they just want cheap well the Chinese have cornered that market and I had to sell them but I never recommended them none of them hold up more than 10 or 15 thousand miles and you only save about a third the cost of a quality tire that will last 3 times as long. Tires and brakes are the 2 most important things on your car don’t skimp on your life and your family’s life.

Years ago I bought 4 Tires at Walmart with their Warranty .
While traveling thru Louisanna, I noticed a problem with one and took it to a Walmart .
The Tire Service Manager said The tire had too much wear on it and he couldnt help me .
I said " Ok, Im going to go then .
But if My tire blows out and I crash and die then Im going to come back and Haunt You .."
He just stared at me for a few moments, contemplating what I said and then told his tireman to give me a new tire ..

I used to work as a service manager. I can say I never screwed anyone over on a road hazard warranty or manufacturer defect.

One time I bought three tires at Walmart in lake Elsinore California go to Hemet California and bought one more they told me lake Elsinore gave me the wrong size tire I said okay will you replace the other ones they said no you have to drive back to lake Elsinore to get the other three right size tire I said why aren't you Walmart all over the world why can't you replace them here they said because you bought them in lake Elsinore and we would have to charge a restocking fee for the old tires and then still you would have to buy the warranty package again to be covered by the warranty again I went back to lake Elsinore they told me that they would replace the three tires but it would cost me $10 per tire restocking fee and $10 per tire for breakdown and reinstall the new tires they would not replace the Hemet tire because it was the right size what does sad world we live in now where are all the honest companies gone

Buy the best quality tire by doing research by talking to other people. High price doesn't mean a high quality tire. By the smallest rim size that will fit your car that clears the brake calipers for your car and buy a tire with a tall side wall, thick sidewalk and high rated PSI.
Example
205/55 R16 will not last very long
Because the side walls are thin.
And should be replaced if it fits to a
205/65 R15 will last a hell of a long time.
(More rubber on the side walls will take more road hits and saves your rims.

I always buy the Discount Tire road hazard warranty. I’ve gotten more mileage (pun intended) out of that than I could ever imagine. I’ve gotten at least 5-8 tires replaced for free with it in the 10 years. It’s made it well worth it for me.

I bought a NEW F-150 3 years ago, it came with Michelin tires, after 42, 000 miles it was time to replace them, I went with the Cooper road & trail that replaces the Cooper AT -3, my truck handles SO much better with the Coopers that now is owned by Goodyear tire, My Michelins sucked in the winter also, the Coopers are more agressive so i will see how they work in the snow.

Well the name brand companies have issues too, they wear out before tread life guarantee and then you have to have detailed records of rotations and such as that . Basically they will weasel their way out any way possible. I had a pair of Cooper AT 3 that I believe two of the 4 blew out and all were bald at 30k or less. I just rather buy several sets of Chinese tires every couple years vs one set of uneven worn high dollar tires

Scotty you are in Tennessee now, no Discount Tire. Discount always took care of me, my wife & 4 daughters. I had a problem in Tennessee, called the manager in Sugarland, TX. He said "Buy a new tire & bring me the receipt" When I got home he wrote me a check.

Some of my Hondas come with Bridgestone tires as factory equipment. Bridgestone is another name for Firestone. They are easy to poke holes in and the wet traction sucks, i lerned that the hard way. In one case money was tight, so i replaced them with Douglas tires from Walmart. I do not recommend Walmart's tire and lube express, but if you gotta you gotta. However, the Douglass tires impressed me, they held up well, and they gripped the road very well. My wife said she had good experience with them too. Before we married money was really tight for her. Talk about tough though, i had a small pickup, a tire developed a slow leak. It was a Michelin tire. I took it to a local shop to get it repaired and they found at least nine nails in the tire, they showed me. One of the selling points for the 2016 Honda CR-V I bought around a year ago was the tires were a good looking set of Michelins. The other points were only 60k miles, Honda battery, and 2016 was the last year for the 2.4L naturally aspirated engine. They changed the engine from a VTEC to one called Earth Dreams. It doesn't seem to have the acceleration my 2012 CR-V does with 145000 miles. The 2012 has had a set of spark plugs put in it and the valves adjusted. It also had a five speed automatic with overdrive, the 2016 has a CVT, which may be the difference. Back to the tires, the Michelins are heavy and somewhat noisy. Goodyears might make for a more comfortable ride, but i prefer traction and ruggedness, especially with all the rough roads we have and road construction everywhere you go, even just to the grocery store.

Yup!!!! With my lifetime of tire experience, I buy new from Les Schwab 60, 000 Mile. They also have high quality service. My wife & I bought high quality tires from Discount Tire many moons ago & I recall they lasted a very long time. Read the average vehicle drives 12, 000 miles yearly

ALSO ****
LOOK at the manufacturing date found on one side of the tire wall . It shows the week and year date . Don’t let someone sell you 5 year old tires as brand new

The road hazard is worth it to me, had 3 tires replaced free since I bought the car at $350 a piece due to nails, pot holes, bulges. Depends on who you buy from.

I've not had this problem at Discount Tires. I've gotten 2 tires replaced for free and one tire patched for free. THAT SAID, I don't like their free tire rotation and other stuff. You go in to get a tire rotation or something like that and they try to convince you to buy new tires even when you don't need them.

Most warranties are scams. Sometimes after paying for the warranty in the fine print it says you have to register online and if you fail to do so, not realizing that it was a requirement they don't honor the warranty.

This man is correct. Please consider buying quality tires, they are incredibly important, and also a lot of amazing engineering goes into making them. World of difference, and it's the only part of your car that makes contact with the ground.
