The only time rotating tires will help is if you have a 4wd / AWD vehicle, because you have to change all 4 tires at the same time on those cars. But for FWD vehicles, you can just change out the front and back tires in pairs when they wear out

I rotate my tires every time I drive! It’s truly effortless!

As a mechanic, I must say. We don't rotate tires because of how well the tires are made, we rotate them to maximize tire life. Tires will wear more on what we call "drive wheels". This is to say, the tires that receive direct power from the transmission. That way, you can keep your tires for a longer period of time.

I stoped rotating tires over 30 years ago. Never had a problem and I’ve driven new cars to over 250, 000 miles per, us my Corolla to 379, 000 miles. I put the tires on when they wore out, checked air pressure periodically, drove tens of thousands of miles and no issues not rotating. I’m 100 percent in agreement.

For safety reason, you want all four tires to wear evenly. It's not uncommon the front tires will wear three or four times faster than the rear tires on a FWD vehicle.

The front tires will definitely wear faster when you consider they turn left and right all the time. Just rotated mine the other day bc the front was definitely more wore than the back. Especially on the edges

As a pro technician for the last 16 years, no scotty, youll be replacing tires more often if you never rotate them, bad advice 😂

I generally agree with you on most things, but the front tires get rounded off from turning and if you don’t rotate them you will eventually see the difference. The front tires will be rounded on the edges and the rear tires will be straight across. Just my opinion.

Front tires seem to wear faster on front wheel drive. So I rotate them front to back. Beneficial.😊

I’m a shop owner and your right for the most part but some tires with aggressive or mud and snow thread designs need to be periodically rotated as per appearance of cupping/ heal and toe wear patterns in order to get the most out of them. You are correct in that most may never need rotation and just like all the flushing of fluids is totally unnecessary. I’m an independent and it sickens me to hear of all the wasted money stolen from customers by promoting services that benefit no one. The manufacturers never use the word “flush” yet even dealers make fortunes off of fearing people into thinking these services are necessary. Thank You for informing the public of the scams in the auto industry, your very much needed in today’s world !

Most tire retailers rotate the tires free of charge for the life of the tire, if you bought them there.

The drive tires are going to wear faster than non-drive tires. The rotation won't effect how they wear. They will help slow the wear of the set as a whole. I recently had a car at my job with 2/32nds on the front (fwd) and 8/32nds on the rear. They never rotated their tires.

your front tires turn left and right all the time. After about 10 to 12 thousand miles you will notice the front tires outside edges are wearing off. The rears will still have a nice square shoulder on them. That's why I rotate my tires about every 12 to 15 thousand miles.

Thank you Scotty. Somehow I had come to the same conclusion myself a few weeks ago. Now I know I'm not crazy.

Listen to Scotty if you want your front tires to wear out way quicker than the rears. Or if you like chopped tires for a loud ride down the highway.

Rotating main purpose is for when the driving wheels wear more than the trailing wheels. It happens on all cars. Rotate when your driving tires are 1/32nd-2/32nd lower than trailing ones.

Pro Tip. If you have off-road tires it is very important to rotate them regularly. Without rotation they will end up with irregular wear patterns that will create tremendous road noise.

FWD AWD 4WD RWD all have front tires that turn the vehicle. Very few vehicles have four wheel steering. So if you using a steering wheel to turn the tires you need to rotate tires. I would go with factory recommended intervals give or take a couple miles.
