When my highschool sweetheart would have panic attacks from stuff going on in her family, I would guide her through a calming breathing exercise, and a calm scernario like being on the a lakeshore, the smell, the calming sounds, the feel of the sand and the slightly cool touch of the water etc.

Sometimes she would fall asleep, and a couple of times I had to guide her through breathing and the scenes for longer than normal, but it helped tremendously in the long run.

She learned healthy coping mechanisms, and has the panic attacks far less often than she did.

Yes. There's a neuroscientist on YouTube that states to breathe in through the nose once, and then breathe in twice and out slowly it reduces anxiety. It's great for when one is out and about.

As a person who has panic attacks, please Do Not touch someone without checking It's okay to do so first. Depending on the reason for the panic attack, Touch may be perceived as physical assault. The rest is all spot on. Barbara is an absolute treasure. 🙏🏻❤️
