That "because of your name" comment really gives it all away. They would not have made that comment if Mike was black.

I appreciate this honest video more than you could ever realize.

Are there people who don’t think there’s racism in the banks??? Bro the banking industry has been rife with racism since the Medici family and clearly to this day

It's not just racism as a customer. They do it to their own employees. People tend to forget that the racism people of the Jim Crow era aren't ancient history. They are still alive. They run businesses, set policy, and work still. This isn't ancient history, it's still very much live and well.

I remember reading a story years ago, in early 2002, about Raffi - the children's entertainer. He was getting ready to come back to North America from a tour in China, when he was denied boarding and his flight was cancelled.
Because of his name, he was put on a no-fly list by the United States Homeland Security.

After some time the issue was fixed enough that he could get back home, and now resides in British Columbia, Canada.

Nearly all crime is a reflection of Socio-Economic conditions of the persons. Rich people commit rich people crimes, and poor people tend to commit poor people crimes.

Before 9/11, I was on a trip where I was "randomly selected for additional security screening". Not the people I was flying with. Just me. On all legs where we passed through security. I want to say there were three to five security screenings in there.

I was a kid. Flying WITH an airline employee on their family pass system. The hell, was that about?

Granted, I don't remember if that was the trip that nearly trapped us on the far side of the country from where we lived or not. It might have been- if it was, one of my first days back in school was 9/11.

Remember, there's a difference between how many people are committing crimes and how many people are getting accused of crimes.

I stopped flying in 2005 because I was tired of being pulled out by TSA for "extra screening" just because of my skin color, hair and beard.
Because I'm multiracial, my skin gets really dark when I work outside.
I also hate shaving, always have.
But because my Arabic ancestry was showing, boom "We need you to step behind the curtain over here".
I enjoy driving across America, it's very peaceful.😊

Growing up as a Black female, I would get comments from peers after they met me to the tune of "oh wow, before I knew you, I thought you were scary! But you're totally not!" I remember being so confused because I'm genuinely a silly fun human. Only years later I realized it was just because I was Black 🙄🙃

Edit: I don't have a RBF. If anything, I have to try to put one ON when I'm in certain situations (e.g. walking in a big city or in places where I don't want to look like a "nice girl"). I grew up in a very White area and most of my friends were White. I was not raised to ever think race was an issue for anything, which bit me in the butt later in life. So yeah, don't think I'm exaggerating or mistaken.

My brother worked outside with his horses so was tanned. Very dark brown hair, dark handle bar mustache, always wore jeans, cowboy boots, and cowboy hat.

He'd get pulled of lines by TSA every time (in supposedly random searches). Finally one time he asked the TSA folks why they kept "randomly" picking him. They said he "fit a certain profile."

Did I mention he was a sheriff's deputy and concealed carried? (That was always fun for the screeners).

Oh, and our family is 96% Irish..

One time he wore regular jeans, shirt, sneakers and a baseball cap. That's the only time he didn't get picked for a random search. 🤦

Profiling is such trash! Started for me when i was 9 cause I "dressed like a hoodlum" and never really stopped until i started needing a cane to walk about 20 years later. Never shoplifted, never caused problems, but that never stopped people from assuming. The amount of profiling I got, and watched others get, is part of what drove me to now be a law student. That, and that i learned basic contract legalese when I was 13 out of spite towards the same people who were profing me.

Per capita is where the argument is being made for crime, however it is irrelevant when discussing cheque deposits
One of the fundamental rules in branch banking is doing your KYC/KYP/KYT, know your Every customer is dealt with individually based on their profile, and then sorted into a bucket, but these buckets are entirely based on transaction history/savings/liquidity/all money based.
It would take an INSANE coincidence for what ure describing not to be racially driven or if ur sample size was like 4 people. This is sad to hear and people trying to defend it are either blatantly racist or simply don’t understand how branch banking functions

You certainly didn't have to call out the banks, but you did. I admire you for doing that. I have NO DOUBT you raise your children the same way.

As an old, white woman, thank you. Thank you for bringing the spotlight where it matters. Racism has never been okay, and will never be okay.

And they also make you wait 10 days to get your own money especially if it’s Bank of America it’s a wire transfer that’s so ridiculous.

I don't have the numbers, but simply using the numbers you posted, which don't *seem* to be per capita, if black americans make up 1.8m offenses, which as a percentage of the all offenses is roughly 26.63%, and black people as a population make up roughly 14.4% of the USA population, that seems to suggest an outsized crime rate. Compare those numbers to white crime using your own numbers you flashed in this vid: 2020 census says 71% in usa are white, and as a percentage of total crime they make up 69.4%. Numbers are deceiving if you aren't looking at per capita. At least with the numbers you provided, blacks do seem to have an outsized impact on crime in USA. I'm not an expert, I'm just following reason.
