The Racial Wealth Gap and Banking (+ the USPS) | LET’S CONNECT

Banks across the country are closing branches – often in Black and Brown communities. And if you don’t have access to a bank, you’re left with costly alternatives like check cashing and payday lenders. In this episode, we connect banks to the millions of people who don’t have access to these basic financial services to the Post Office!

With a branch in every ZIP code nationwide and trust within the community, banking at the Post Office could create a public option needed to put millions of families in greater control of their money.

Postal banking won't close the wealth gap, but it's a start.

“Hey Patrick, what am I now?”
“Uh, stupid?”
“No, I’m the ACLU!”
“What’s the difference?”

They've lost 69 billion dollars over a decade just through mail and you want to make them a bank? No, you want to make them a Chinese social credit system, so you can hand out tax payer loans based on how 'oppressed' and compliant a person is.

As a first generation immigrant who came to this country pennyless, I know that if you want to succeed, no policy will hold you back, but victim mentality will.

I’m a 35-year-old proud black man, I live almost an hour and 20 minutes from the closest bank and I have my paychecks direct deposited into my Chase account, therefore when you tell us that we can’t do something, there’s many of us out there that can do anything and everything that we want to do, please don’t lecture me about things that happened to stop me and my people from doing anything, it’s this way of thinking that’s going two hold us back, I could look at myself as a victim, but why do that, my grandma raised me to hold my head high and two never let anybody hold me back.

yeah guess what, businesses aren’t going to open at areas where people would smash their store and loot their products. Even if they are, cost of insurance will be higher, their cost for protection will be higher, thus resulting in higher prices. And what causes these problem in the first place? who knows…

How we got to this wealth gap? Some people work and the rest want handouts. Stop with the victim card.

I ain't never see none of these clowns, when it comes to serious issues within these communities. Well, green is the only color they see.
