Single point anchors and the cordelette shelf

If you're using a cordelette around a single point anchor, such as a tree or rock horn, and you want to clip the shelf above the master point loop, it's best practice to clip both strands on either the right or the left. Doing this ensures you are clipping both strands of the cord, maintaining redundancy.

This is opposite what you do with a normal anchor with two separate arms, when you clip one strand from the left and one strand from the right.

In this video, I covered one of the two cordelette loops with blue tape so you can see it more clearly. Notice that if you clip one less strand and one right strand, you have the 50% chance of clipping the same strand twice, which is of course not redundant. Probably not a catastrophic mistake, but not best practice either.
