What you need for this Hummus Recipe

1 15oz can CHICK PEAS (Garbanzo Beans)
2 cloves GARLIC
2 Tbsp EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
2 Tbsp TAHINI
2 Tbsp LEMON JUICE
SALT (to taste...I use about ¼ tsp)
WATER (just a little...as needed)

directions:
Drain and rinse one 15oz can of chick peas (also called Garbanzo Beans—they're the same thing) and place in a food processor. Add 2 cloves of garlic or perhaps even 3 if you're a garlic freak, but start with only 2 cloves because your friends and family will appreciate it. Add oil, tahini, lemon juice, and salt to taste. Water can be added and the amount really depends on the consistency of the hummus you're trying to make. Start with a ¼ cup and add more water if needed. Blend ingredients until desired chunkiness or smoothness is attained.

Garnish with extra olive oil, paprika, parsley or cilantro, etc.

There's no end to the types of hummus you can create. All manner of ingredients can be added to the basic recipe above. ROASTED RED PEPPERS make a tasty addition, especially those from a jar as they blend readily, but forego adding water since the peppers will have plenty.
Also try adding cucumber, hot peppers, cumin, dill, curry, green onions, etc. The subtle flavor of the chick peas will pair nicely with most ingredients.

Serve hummus with warm pita bread, pita chips, crackers, or raw fruit and vegetables. It's great in wraps and sandwiches. Hummus on a hamburger? Why not. It's inexpensive, easy to make, delicious, and a healthy dining choice...so it's a no-brainer, too.

I could tell from the opening of the video that Camera Girl is back, by the happiness in Chef Buck's eye and the twinkle in his voice. lol. Chef Buck does not do well without his Lady. He loves you, C Girl. And so do we. Welcome back, love. ;) And the hummus looks great, by the way. lol.

"Extra Virgin, hardly ever left the house, olive oil." That made me chortle out loud, Chef Buck. Hi, Camera Girl!

I recently purchased the garbanzo beans, tahini paste, and already have everything else to make this. My hubby likes roasted red pepper in his (which I make on my gas burner on my stovetop). I'm looking forward to making this for sure. I think I would substitute homemade roasted garlic cloves as opposed to fresh. A little less harsh. Thank you for sharing this recipe and all the helpful suggestions!

Hummus is the food of the gods, there doesn't go a day by without us consuming a little. Great on bread, excellent with crunchy veggies. :)

You can use a blender if you use dried chickpeas, soak them in water overnight and boil them the next day. Blend them with a bit of the cooking liquid once they are fully cooked, don't let them cool because starches absorb water at low temperatures your hummus will thicken as it cools. Other than that all the other ingredients can be left the same! Thanks Chef!

Chickpeas and garbanzo beans are totally different! One has a nutty flavor with an earthy touch and the other has a nutty flavor with an earthy oh.

Your sweet potato hummus was the very best. Since then I have made eggplant hummus and carrot hummus but my favorite was the sweet potato. Thank you.

I have a slightly different take on the creamy- water vs tahini ratio - I will defer to your "chefeness" and this is just the way I like to do it - I go opposite with order of ingredients - all ingredients are the same but I use no tahini at first and a little too much water - I find that it mixes easier and more thoroughly- and then I add the tahini to tighten it up - all ingredients being the same it can't taste absolutely terrible so try it you might like it.
Forgot to mention - I'm a big fan and love the recipes especially the veggie stuff.

I can never remember to buy Tahini or look for it so I add chickpeas, parsley, olives, mayo and onion, and minced carrot and lemon juice and garlic and sometimes boiled eggs and a tiny bit of turmeric and salt and pepper. I use my vitamin 3600.

I have that identical food processor. Hamilton Beach right? I've had it for about 100 years. Still works great. Chef, have you ever used the chick pea water (aquafaba) for meringues?
