Dr Rachael Wood: Routine health data to inform the response to Covid-19 in Scotland

Dr Rachael Wood, Consultant in Public Health Medicine in PHS and an Honorary Reader in University of Edinburgh gave a talk as part of the University of Edinburgh Psychiatry Special Lecture Series.

This lecture will set out the role of Public Health Scotland, focusing on the range of national health datasets held by the organisation, data developments that have been undertaken in response to COVID-19, and how national data has been used to support research on, and hence inform PHS’s response to, the COVID-19 pandemic. The lecture will specifically discuss the national case control and cohort studies set up to study COVID-19, PHS’s work on the wider impacts of COVID-19 on population health and healthcare, and PHS’s contribution to international studies on COVID-19.
