My Ex Is Testing Me: How Should I Respond To An Ex That Sends Mixed Signals?

After a breakup regardless of if you are trying to get back together or not, you may have to deal with an ex that sends mixed signals. Very often people that I coach in private one to one coaching sessions reach out and say my ex is testing me what should I do?

You may have started a no contact or radio silence, or you may feel that you are starting to feel better and all of sudden you have to deal with an ex who tries to test your resolve, an ex that provokes you…often to see if you are still available and into them or if you are truly moving on.

These tests may come in various forms and can be quite frequent, and I created this video to help you identify those signs and understand the right way to respond (or not respond).

It's been two months we separated with no contact. When he ghosted on me and our kids he broke up with me. Then the next day he came and got his stuff when I sat it outside on grass. Then he gonna apologize to me and say he's sorry it's not my fault then tells me that he's living with his sister. So a month later the truth been revealed that he's staying with his other baby mama. So me and him got into an argument that I called him every name in the book. Then after that I walked away from him. I didn't even contacted, texted nor didn't want to be bothered with him anymore. So then he reached out to me 3 times here and there which I'm really not to thrilled to talk to him at all. When I talk to him I feel sick to my stomach. So instead I'm avoiding him. Then after that he wants to pop up at my house. I been staying focused on working and being successful with my music and hair cosmetology careers and taking care of my kid's. Plus he's spying on me. Why does he want from me if you don't mind me asking?

She contacted me after two months of no contact. We exchanged few messages and I asked her to call me but she refused. I told her to call me when she clear her schedule and close the conversation. The following weekend she called me but I couldn't answer her call. I asked her to set a call for the following weekend but she avoid responding. She actually called me the following weekend and the next one as well. That was the last call. In that last call, she asked me if I'm seeing someone else. I refused to answer that question. At that point she told she was in an hotel and she was disappointed because she was supposed to sleep with a colleague but this chose to sleep with another colleague... I thought that she was rubbing to my face that she is sleeping with someone else. I didn't hear her for the next 10 days. I texted her and asked if she fixed the issues with this "colleague" and she answered almost 24 hours later saying that she ended up sleeping by herself. I then asked her if she talked to this colleague and clarified the situation and she still hasn't responded after almost two days. So what should I do? This constant ambiguity is driving me crazy.

Think Im in that situation rite now and honestly I've been able to show him what he's missing because I'm actually changing everything around me for myself, to protect my heart and we've been flirting and texting and being nice with eachother, respecting each one's life bcuz we also have a baby girl and it's going great! My ex broke up with me and immediately moved 2000 miles away. We went through a no contact period and he contacted me after 4 weeks and told me that he missed me and still loved me. He continued to text me on a regular basis for about 2 weeks and in his last text indicated that he would text me later and at this point I haven't heard from him in 3 days. Is this a test? I can't believe that he got an apartment and totally furnished it right after leaving me.

I had to break up with my ex fiance recently his emotions were way off course and got toxic nonsense that I needed to back away to challenge himself mentally, emotionally, spiritually etc to have an attitude change to make himself a better person of maturity and responsibility for his own actions and deciosions. He got scared when he found out his mother was going through heart surgery with a pacemaker in her heart but instead of going to find someone who is a positive influence he decided to isolate himself and got high and very drunk "didn't know what to do". Feels like I am the one testing him in this difficult time simply because if he really cares about someone in a relationship with someone other than his "close friends" and family that will not tolerate any nonsense drama excuses and become a more mature responsible adult. I still care about him a lot but I don't need any childish toxic nonsense high school drama either.

Dear Adrian, I love your videos, with your coach partners - absolutely beautiful. Thank you. Re this particular video, I agree with a firm stance and behaving unequivocally with our ex. I disagree with you slightly when you say "that's how we will get them back". There is no guarantee. I believe that the real power of silence, distance and holding back is that it forces the other one to stop playing around with us and wasting our time. It forces him/her to make a decision: come back or definitely go. And if they don't come back, it means there is a much greater love story round the corner for me to experience!
